T-Mobile, 850 Roaming and 850 Phone availability

Does anyone think that if T-Mobile really begins roaming on 850 that it might mean more emphasis from manufacturers to get 850 enabled phones to the U.S. more quickly than in the past? Might this not be a good thing in disguise for Cingular phone junkies? It seems right now that it takes forever to get new phones, and when we do they are already out of date. I'm just curious what others think the implication of this might be.
