X700 display broken, help!

I gave my sister my Panasonic X700 recently, and she called me the other say saying the LCD doesn't illuminate. She can make and receive calls just fine, and she says she can see the image on the screen when she's out in the sun ... so it seems the lcd works, but the backlight isn't illuminating.

She's tried turning it off and back on, tried taking the battery out and waiting and putting it back in, tried removing the mini-sd card, etc and nothing .

The only thing she hasn't tried (which I'll try tomorrow when I go over there) is a soft and hard reset. But if the LCD is displaying and just not backlighting, I'm worried it's a hardware error.

So what are my options here, considering I live in the US and Panasonic no longer has a presence here? Is there a number I can call to send it in for warranty repair (I couldn't find a number to call anywhere). Is there someone that sells LCDs or backlights for this phone that I can swap out, and if so, are there take-apart instructions anywhere?

Anyone else have any other suggestions?

the hard reset didn't work

the main lcd backlight, outer lcd backlight, and photolight do not turn on

anyone know if there's anyone i can call to get this fixed, now that Panasonic's not in the US anymore?

I have a Buyers Assurance plan through Amex, but they need a copy of the manufacturers receipt, unfortunately I threw this away (doh!), could someone scan a copy of that card for me?
