Is there a way to navigate to tasks quickly on this smartphone?
Currently the only way i know of getting there is
start>9>4
is there a one button short cut from the home screen?

1. You can have an icon on your homescreen to get there.
2. Use Speech Recognition : Up volume button, say "Open" then "Tasks"
Either way its pretty easy.

Move it to the first page of the start menu so its one less click. Or put an icon on the homescreen.
The Facade plugin shows your Tasks on the homescreen but I dont know if the plugin works on the mpx200.
