Wirelessly posted (AUDIOVOX-SMT5600/1.2 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; Smartphone; 176x220))

ok, my nokia 6620 is very slow on the edge network. i have tested the speed on the nokia 6620 at about 45kb. other people report about 100kb. even this audiovox is doing 60kb per second and it has no edge.

Having using a 6230, S710a, and V551, I had noticed that when I used my 6620 it has seem slower than the others....The only thing I can think of is it's not detecting the EDGE network (for some reason or another), or your account isn't properly configured (on Cingular's side). Although I don't know if the 6620 uses Class 4 or Class 10 EDGE...

I might be wrong but I think the 6620 has class 2 EDGE and class 6 GPRS.

The 6620 has class 4edge. It seems like it is not working on the edge network. I have used a t650 and s710 and they both were at about 170kbps (obviously they were on edge).

And, i'm using dslreports.com

Thanks!

LOL. There is a lot of bad info out there on the web. According to the Cingular box, the 6620 has class 6 GPRS, and class 2 EDGE. Of course, on one website I read class 4 EDGE and on another I read class 8. I'll place my bet on the info printed on the 6620 box.

perhaps you not in an EDGE tower. 41kbps is not edge speeds

70+ is

i thought it was class 4 edge too

If your signal strength is good, you should expect 70-90Kbit/s. If it is poor, you should expect worse speeds. It should be like the 6200, since both only support 2 download timeslots. A class 8 or class 10 device would perform much better in all signal strength regimes.

Edited to add: 6620 is the same speed as 6200, which is 2+1, which is class 2.
