No EDGE (preferably class 10), so it's a no go for me. It's also a Moto and I have had much luck with Moto. Not to mention, considering how much Cingular originally wanted to for the original RAZR, this one is not going to come cheap.

Posted by: Omega2008

Yep not cheep at all...but thats what my gaget savings account is for....as long as it doesn't break 10,000 bucks...I may get it lol hahaha

Of course it's going to be expensive, or at least at first. It was expensive and very appealing so many people found this to be a popluar device. Afterall, you do have 2 of them, why 2 if you're so dissatisfied with the V3??? This V3x is only another gadget, however the "2way video" is kinda cool, assuming it actually works. I perfer my Blackberry over ALL other wireless devices, the only thing it's lacking is a camera. ;-)

I can't wait untill the one with MS mobile. I will do push email and is suposed to have EDGE.

Mother always told me to be careful what you ask for. I have two because 1) I didn't buy them 2) it would be rude to disregard or not use a gift. I have friends who make lots of money and sometimes they spend it frivolously on me. I still think the RAZR is overpriced and over-rated, since it doesn't do anything my Nokia 6230 cannot do. Surely this upcoming RAZR will have more features, but Moto's quality control (or lack thereof) leaves me leery of anything Moto costing more than $300.

That device is comming in the near future...it is supposed to be a flip version of the Motorola Franklin prototype....however I can't confirm this since I don't have any physical proof to back it up but I have heard this from some very good friends of mine who work at Motorola...but they have been wrong on certian things too.

I would love a thin, clam shell, WM5 device.....and I really hope is has a bigger screen than the MPx 220....

Come on they will get it rite soon. Keep the faith. MOTO is doing some good design.

Don't get me wrong I love my old Nokia. I have droped it on the pavement more times than I can remember and it keep on ticking. I have even been in the same car with different phones with the same account I have and have been amazed with the reception!

Interesting....should I wait for this or get a Black V3 now?

How much you guys think this is going for if it comes to Cingular? $599? What about with contract?

Posted by: aacidusX

cingular better get the black version...

Posted by: Ver2

I hope you all know that phone is UMTS....

Seriously, why would anyone complain about this phone not having EDGE, when it will be either UMTS or HSDPA...

Posted by: hahnyc87

#1- this should be in the phone subforum, DUH
#2- no one knows if it will be released with cingular
#3- the word almost is defined as: "Slightly short of; not quite; nearly"
#4- not only is the expected launch date 2005 4th qtr (which cant be considered almost) BUT it is a moto and probably wont be out until it is outdated or no carrier will take it because of too many problems
#5- where is the idiot who bet me that the v635 would be out april 14th with cingular lol lol
#6- but on a happy note it does look like a good phone, finally moto is stepping up the plate

Posted by: shortyd999

Well now i guess this will be my next phone. But why change the name?? V1150 sounds fine to me or V1151

Posted by: killah21

This phone will come out for Cingular
This phone will use UMTS
It is backwards compatible with EDGE
This phone will come out in 2006
It will have 1900mhz UMTS

eventually it will come out..

Posted by: rhino369

it'll come out in 2006 and be cheap by next summer so i can buy it!

Posted by: imabballer

everything i've seen and read says that it will not be released to a north american gsm provider, and that it will not work with cingular's new high speed data network. (different frequency) I hope all of this is wrong b/c i'd love to get it, but maybe some of you should check in the MOTOROLA forum where some people actually know a little bit about this phone.

Posted by: nlwalker1

This really should be in the phones subforum. But I just wanted to add that the V1150 is the Euro/Asian Version while the V1151 is the North American version

Posted by: Goldmember2

never thought this would make it to the states....thats a hot phone

I think you wrong. The CEO of Nextel was just on Jim Cramer's CNBC Mad Money and was asked about this phone in the US. He said not on Sprint/Nextel, but I hear it's coming out on another Carrier by Christmas.

I just gotta think he has better sources than most.

If engadget.com had made it explicitly clear that it was a UMTS/HSPDA phone then we would have had no reason to complain. Now that I know this, my view has certainly changed. It is still a Moto, though.

Well, it's not quite here yet. I will say this, though, I might have to reconsider my hatred for Moto, because the feature set on this phone is truly pimp.

He came off just being jealous. And I don’t think he was referring to TMO.

I am inclined to agree. I was just saying that unless the CEO was being facetious by saying that the phone was not headed to Sprint/Nextel to just be facetious, then it is obvious that it's headed to Cingular, for T-Mobile doesn't have UMTS yet. I am sure he was just joking, because Sprint/Nextel don't use GSM or UMTS and this is not a CDMA or iDEN phone.

Posted by: CA

He was just trying to say something without words! And I think Jim Cramer has a case of phone envy.

So do I. Just hoping MOTO has it together. I keep hearing different thing about reception with the Razor. It would be a real shame if my free Nokia was better.

Posted by: Omega2008

This would be a great phone for Cingular to release on the launch of there UMTS network...only time will tell I guess.

Posted by: nin1974

that is sweet looking "drooool"
must get that phone...

Posted by: blazer22

I am using the iMate Jam right now and although I really like it a lot I am in the market for a good durable flip phone (the jam is an excellent device but it is a pocket pc first and a phone second, which sucks for me cause I need a device that is a phone first and whatever second), but I am less than impressed with the outer display screens with the recent phones, especially the Moto lineup. I either need a candybar phone with a great display or a clam with a decent size outer display.

Posted by: thomas_1930

Good to know,it has T-Flash,but it doesn't look as good as the Razr Version.1. I mean what happened to the aluminium-grading. I read somewhere that its finish is Velvette like.(Can someone confirm this?) & it is slightly thicker than the original RAZR.

Hopefully someday some phone will beat RAZR's style & also have a great set of features, thats when i will replace my Classic Razr.
Motorola can do it may be in Version.3, but they never listen to User feedbacks, so i doubt it???

Also hoping the V3X's flash works for V3....

Posted by: bobolito

Well, if the phone has UMTS and IF it's coming to the US by the end of this year, then we already know which carrier will offer it. Which other carrier in the US has UMTS?

Now, this guy is saying that Motorola WILL NOT release the V3x in the US:
http://www.mobiletracker.net/archiv...rola_razr_v.php

By the way, this phone IS NOT in the Motorola US website. That press release floating around is in Motorola's global web site, not the US.

Posted by: shortyd999

V3x wasnt intended for a US release. Its just a rename V1150 to capitalize on the RAZR popularity.

Although technically not a new phone, Motorola was showing off the latest hardware of the RAZR V3x. The phone was first announced as the V1150, but has simply been renamed recently to capitalize on the RAZR brand. It's a 3G WCDMA phone intended mainly for Europe and Asia

I can assure you a device similar to this will be released in the US.

Do a little searching on CSP. Don't look for v3x or anything simple like that. There are a few roadmaps available on the site though.

aresthoth-

I respect my job and won't release info that isn't intended to become public.

It’s unclear who will manufacture the handset, although Cingular has said Nokia, Motorola and LG Electronics will provide equipment to access its broadband service.

That is from the HBO/Cingular Discussion Article on MSNBC.

They talk about the handsets that will be available at or around the time of launch. And I DON'T think that they are talking about the A845...

Posted by: robnester

Just got off the phone with Motorola and talked to a customer service rep that said that the v3x will be released in the US, and most likely with Cingular or T-mobile. It will be 3g capable, but 3g capabilities will be limited by the carrier(s) 3g network. Also, I was informed that the phone will also be GSM, the GSM900 of the European/Asian version being replaced by GSM850 for US use. The representative seemed very sure of this information so let's hope he was correct because I really would like to get this phone.
