Is there any way I can convert a .qpc audio file I recorded on my phone to a .wav?
I was hoping I could just rename it, but that doesn't work.

Can't you just rename a .qcp to a .mp3 file and it'll work?

I'm suprised a program hasn't been created it.. I'm too lazy, but if any C+ programmers want, they should just head over to qualcomm, and grabe the latest PureVoice SDK, it comes with the dlls, and stuff to convert QCP to WAVs.

Quote:
High Level
* Converts a wave file (8-kHz, 16-bit PCM) into PureVoice (.qcp)
file and vice versa as well as memory based conversion.

Mid Level
* Opens .qcp file in either READ or WRITE mode
* Closes .qcp file
*Reads blocks of PureVoice data and decodes to linear 8-kHz, 16-bit PCM
samples.

* Writes blocks of PCM data into PureVoice format after encoding.
* Retrieves a length of file in blocks.
* Retrieves format information about a file (block size, sampling rate, etc.)

I know that, but everyone is roaring about how they can rename a .mp3 to .mid and it'll work on their mini sd. I read on another thread you can do the same thing with a .qcp .

Magical file changing would be nice though.

Thats because the phone can read both .mp3 and .mid file formats. Doesnt matter what the extension of the file is in that case since the phone will play both. Renaming an mp3 to mid will just play as an mp3 and vice versa.

File extensions are really just a way for the computer to associate a particular file to a particular application. It doesnt actually change format of the file. This is easily demonstrated by creating a new text document with notepad (or Word). Save it and rename the file extension .xxx (or anything else you want) Try opening it...when the "open with" box pops up, select Notepad (or Word)...what happens? It opens!

Purevoice files can be played and converted using Qualcomm's free player and Software Development Kit.

You can download them for free.

Download Site for Qualcomm Pure Voice

They have both a linux and windows version of the converter.

Hope that helps!

P.S. You can't just rename a .qcp "PureVoice" file and have it play as another format. It won't work.

Assuming the .qpc file is on your phone, there is another option to converting to .wav format without downloading any software. Just send the .qpc audio file from your phone to your personal email account (I specifically used a cox.net account) and the audio file is attached as a .wav

Not every service provider will do that.

My qcp files with Verizon end up qcp files. No fun for the person getting them.
