dual-power adapter for Blackberry 7250?

Hi all,

I'm thinking about buying the dual-power adapter (ZIP-PWR-X2) from ziplinq so that I can carry one adapter and be able to recharge my 7250 via either an AC outlet or the car's battery. However, there is no voltgae/current output spec mentioned in the BB 7250 user's manual. As per the recharger that comes with it, it says 5.0V and 0.5A. This ZIP-PWR-X2 has an output spec of 12 VDC + 5% and 0.5A. Does anyone know if this is compatible with my BB? I am concerned if my BB will get cooked!

Thanks.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7250/4.0.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

I can't comment on the product you mentioned. However I can say that I've never had luck with non-OEM chargers for any phone I've ever owned, including Blackberry.

There's always a compromise. Either the plug is too loose, or the device is flimsy, etc.

And if the charger damages your device, the warranty will likely not cover the damage.

Stay with OEM...always. You can't go wrong. Its not worth the few bucks you save.

Thanks Jase88.

It's not about saving a few bucks. It's about convenience. I need to travel alot and I have been carrying my USB cable only and I have been recharging my BB from my laptop. Buying the adapter that I mentioned could provide me two additional ways of charging up my BB (wall plug and car) while I just need to carry one more fairly small "thing" in my bag. The cost of this adapter is a no brainer to buy it ($10) but I am worried that it will cook my BB. Again, if it is my BB, I will be less concerned but that is something provided by my company and I don't want to go through the hassel of re-requesting another one.

Anyone else can comment on the output voltage concern that I have?

Thanks!

I travel a lot and have an igo it charges my laptop and another device ipod, blackberry, HP6315, PSP.

There is an external battery (ncharge by valence) that works with some of the igo types (after you buy another piece from them) that is promissing, but I returned one unit already and the replacement one won't hold a charge. It powers my laptop and/or another device. When it was working I could charge my laptop for another 2.5 hours using th encharge battery.
