Purchased The RAZR Today and I Have A Question ?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: HabanoJim

I purchased the RAZR today and after I unpacked it and started setting it up I noticed that there is a slight gap between the top of the outer lens and the top of the opening for the outer lens on the filp, has anyone else had this problem?

It wouldn't be such a big deal but I can see all the connectors and ribbon cables and am concerned that moisture might get in and damage it.

Thanks,
Jim

take it back and exchange it for a non-defective unit.

They are all that way.

Mine's not. I wouldn't think exposed cables/connectors would be a very good idea for any electronic device, so I'd try taking it back and exchanging it.

They all do. Some of us are very anal and see every little thing that normal people do not. I always see little tiny defects on every phone I have. A little mis- match here and there etc.

Trust me. I know what the guy is talking about. He will see it on every RAZR.

Hmm... Well, I don't see it on mine and I'm fairly anal about my cell phones.

If I'm looking in the same area as the OP stated, I do see a very tiny "gap", but I do not see any exposed wires/cables/connections. It's all black metal/plastic in that area. *shrug*

You are correct at least, as far as, the on hand inventory they had.

The sales rep pulled all of his existing stock and as we pealed back the protective cover on each phone there was the gap (unbelievable).

When we looked at the Silver version they were fine, but I wasn't interested in the silver version.

I have been a MOTO customer since 1987, but after having to deal with the V600 disaster from H**L for the past year and this obvious manfacturing flaw I'm done.

I took it back and purchased the S710a, I realize it's not perfect, but I am more comfortable with SE's track record of late then Moto's.

It's a small gap around the ouside screen about .020-.030.

My Silver V3 from Nov 04 has the small gap. I did not even notice it until I read this post.

I have a razr from Nov 04, and I don't see any gap on the outside screen.

I only noticed it because it's very visable on the Black V3, but not so much on the Silver and maybe I'm a little anal

No, it's a gap between the top of the outer lens and the top of the opening for the outer lens on the front of the filp.

It's the thickness of about three sheets of paper which is big enough to allow
plenty of dust and potential moisture damage.

I have had enough trouble with Motorola the past couple of years that I'm just not willing to deal with the potential problems this presents, no matter how much I like the phone.

I don't see any gaps much less a gap like that on my 3 day old black razr. Is it possible to post a picture? Maybe I'm looking at the wrong thing?

Unfortunately I no longer have the phone and I didn't think of taking a photo until after I had returned it.

Can anyone with this issue post a picture of this? This would be great for all of us. I've looked, and looked at my phone, and a friends, and don't see a gap. I've checked the silver and black one. Unless of course am just missing something...
