I use Versamail and need to have it on the ROM. I would like to keep only the English Language on the phone and place CKJOS on the ROM. While I was not successful doing that with the FW1.23, I would still like to have the option to play with it. I know if I spend enough time on it, I'll get it done.

No matter how dope it is, its still versamail. I use snappermail cause it supports IMAP and POP and its much better than versamail.

on another note, after I upgraded my ROM to 1.28 I lost all my data (expected)...however, I can't recall how to set my hot sync manager or "PC overwrites phones" rather than "phone overrights PC" when backing up all my info. Can anyone give me some basic instructions?

You need to use the Palm Desktop to select the option. Desktop overwrites Handheld to restore. That is provided if you did not do any sync with the Desktop after the update. I hot sync before an update and rename the file and then do another hotsync just in case. I no longer bother to rename the files as I use Backup Buddy to backup also.

The Uninstall does not work in the ROM and not a good idea.
The RingoPro I got comes with a installer, When I added the installer in the ROM, everytime I launch it it would launch the installer first.
I added the CKJOS but I cannot see where it is.
The only thing that worked was the KeyCap.

I tried a few times but only once of twice I got the FW installed, Most of the time it gave me error messsges. I only see about 2mb of memory increase at the most.

I gave up and reflash the FW with the Palmone download. It did not work. I was able to reinstall the full version loaded from TreoCentral. So I am back to where I was.

you shouldn't be touching custom1 rom or custom2. if you want to make changes then use the full uncustomized version. and you do know that not all software is made to be put into the built in rom. i think there's a link somewhere that tells you what will work and what will not.

i didn't add any apps to the custom ROM. for me, i prefer not to because if an upgrade to the app comes out, there is no way for me to remove the old app other than re-customizing the ROM and then hard resetting and loading the new rom again.

RAM or ROM, they the same to me, both resides on the treo. ROM you cannot overwrite/delete without recustomizing the rom and hard resetting, RAM you can.

I do understand what your concern about that updates. I have probably launched the updates at least a dozen times. Changing the apps is not really a big deal.
I am just saying if we free up the ROM and not using it, would not gain anything. The RAM is not going to increase. What the gain is that we can move the apps that have to be in the RAM into the ROM and thus free up the RAM.

it used to work in the older firmwares.
