Bad news... BB Connect does not work with the R5A02 firmware!!! Is there any way to downgrade the firmware? How about the recovery option on the SE site? Will that downgrade my p910a to the previous version if I used it to upgrade?

Posted by: seatart

I think the only way to downgrade firmware is to send phone to SE. As far as I know backup/restore only does Data and settings.
Try calling SE....

yup, it doesnt work... i posted this before in the bberry sticky

Posted by: smartloom

Just send my P910i back to SE requesting R4A10. Let's see if they can do it. I tried all options calling T-mobile, baclkberry support and also SE but nobody can get BB Connect working with R5A02

Posted by: smartloom

Got my phone back from service center and they were able to downgrade to R4A10 and now BB connect 2.28 is working again......

there is a v2.54 that works on R5A02 released in Singapore

Is there anyway we can get this software? I stupidly upgrade my P910a to R5a and is suffering from its inability to connect to my BES

But people have found and used it correct? If so then i guess i need to do some searching, or maybe someone else that has it can make a link for a few of us to grab it by.

I think people have used it on Singtel, but I don't think anyone has found the sis file to be downloaded. The only download available is on t-mobile and Vodafone Germany, but that is the old version. I'd like to get my hands on the new 2.54v too.

Posted by: xtacy1869

Well maybe Tankee can help us out and hook us up with his newest version.....Please oh please.....

Posted by: tankee531

anyway to extract the installed software back as a sis file?

Posted by: seatart

you can try a program called "Instant SIS" which supposedly will do just what you want. You can get it at My Symbian or probably handango has it.

Posted by: tankee531

wow ! thanks for the tip !

but US$15 for the sw

Posted by: seatart

you can download a Trial version and see if it works...

Posted by: tankee531

In the trial version, we can send only InstantSis itself to another device.

a potential leak of v2.54 (NOT VERIFIED)

Just installed worked perfectly

Posted by: doolsz

Worked for me too. I was just thinking about giving up the p910 and now i won't since it is working. BTW, i'm on Rogers in Canada.

Posted by: tkao2025

Got it installed, provisioned and than registered, but got no message back. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm on Cingular in the US.

Posted by: smartloom

Using corporate account or blackberry web client?

Posted by: tkao2025

Using blackberry web client.

I read somewhere that Cingular will not allow P910 to register. I don't really buy that because I'm using my 6822 with blackberry on Cingular at the moment. I don't know why I'm having such a hard time. It will not allow me to register and send me a service book. There must be something I'm not doing right or I have to call Cingular and tell them I have a new blackberry device so they recognize my IMEI. Maybe that's what I have to do? That would be a pain if everytime I switch to a different blackberry device I have to do that

Posted by: doolsz

I'm using a BES account. Sorry I cannot help.

no harm try calling them and tell them to register your new PIN

Working fine with Vodafone UK

Just called them. Cingular data support says you don't have to tell them the IMEI. You just have to register the handset with blackberry and than go to web client and put in PIN&IMEI. Still I think that they are not recognizing my handset as I have not received any service books.

I'm out of thoughts on this. If anyone who's on Cingular has got it working please let me know how you did it. Thanks

Since I have scads of free time, I'll give it a whirl and let you know what happens.

In the meantime, I'm updating this thread.

If I can get my phone to roam on T-Mobile, in theory, I should be able to connect to BB's server thru them right? So far I've been able to change my pin to all zero's when I switch the settings from .net to .com.
