Is it possible to use MP3 files as ringtones? If so I have it totally made. How well does MP3 work as ringtones on the 8000 and how many can you upload to the phone?

Thanks

One more thing if you can what shoudl be the settings? Bitstrenght etc? Will the low bit strengh work since this is not a high end speaker system on the phone and I just want simple sound FX ringtones

yes u can use mp3's as ringtones

i cant answer the question of how many ringtones it can hold because i never really had a lot of ringtones on my phone at once

to get the ringtones on the vx 8000 use qspt and this guide to help
***note u need a data cable

To add ringtones to the phone:

1. Connect your data cable to the vx8000 (at the time of this writing, the
vx6000 and vx7000 futuredial cables at radio shack worked).
2. load up QPST, in particular the EFS Explorer.
3. BACKUP and delete /dload/sound.dat
4. place .mp3 or .mid files into either of the following directories:
/dload/snd/
/user/sound/ringer/ (you can create this folder if it doesn't exist)
5. reset the phone, the tones will be displayed in the ringtone section.

if you add "ringers" to your phone, the storage limit is around 6 to 10 mb
in that area. There is no warning or memory checker for that section. So
when you add "ringers" to your phone make sure you only add about 30 seconds
of your song to the phone since your phone only rings for about 30 seconds
or less. Also make sure the quality of your tunes are only about 64kbs
since the speaker in your phone can't play above that quality. Add the rest
of the songs you like to hear in your "Tunes" catagory which can hold up to
47 mb of songs which is alot of songs if you change your songs quality to 64
kbs instead of the normal 128kbs since the lg 8000 speaker can only play
64kbs quality or less and anything above that would be a waste of storage
space.

use can also add full mp3s to the mp3 player

To add tunes to the phone:

1. Connect your data cable to the vx8000 (at the time of this writing, the
vx6000 and vx7000 futuredial cables at radio shack worked).
2. load up QPST, in particular the EFS Explorer.
3. BACKUP and delete /dload/aod.dat
4. Place your mp3 files in the /brew/shared/aod/ directory
5. reset the phone, the tones will be displayed in the tunes section
*Thanks to JTPRO for this FAQ.

To add tunes to your lg 8000 phone, you must put the new songs in the
brew/shared/aod/ directory. This will allow you to play your tunes "Songs"
on the front of your lg 8000 by pressing and holding the play button in the
front of the phone for 3 seconds. You can either add new songs to that
directory and delete the aod.dat file or you can create fake files using
your voice to record someting and overwrite that file using your new song
name when adding it to your directory. Its called the overwriting function
instead of adding new songs then deleating the aod.dat file. This way you
don't have to delete any aod.dat or video.dat or any file when adding a new
song or video to your phone. Also make sure the quality of your tunes are
only about 64kbs since the speaker in your phone can't play above that
quality. You need a music editing software program to convert your mp3
songs to 64kbs quality. I personally use cool edit pro but there are
hundreds out there on the web that you can use. As for the sound of the mp3s
when you play them on the front of the phone, the sound is loud and very
good quality even at 64kbs. They give you a hands free headset with your lg
8000 and you can even make the mp3 louder when using the headset.

Wow,

Thanks so much again. Extremely Knowledgable person you are.

That PSM player works good to convert MMF to Wave. It won't convert the MMF to *.mid probably because those files are 8000khz. I htink they need to be 10,000 or above which I can re-sample in Sound Forge.

But the onoly problem is when I make them into MP3 it compresses it so much they don;t sound the same anymore.

Whats a good program to convert the wave file to MP3, and not having it change the original sound to something else. Maybe its just sound forge.

Go here for DERELEKT's full tutorial as partially mentioned below:http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...4&page=29&pp=15.

Also read the section "More Datacable Information supplied by zaidiaz" to answer why you might be having trouble getting QPST to read your phone.
