I am torn between returning the RAZR and getting the 6230b. I'm so confused. I love the RAZR but I really like the 6230 also.. Ahh, decisions, decisions.. Any ideas guys?

wish I could help. I was kinda torn between the two as well. got my phone this morning. went with a razr. I'm happy with it except the volume of the earpiece seems really low. I turned it up all the way and I still have trouble hearing people when they call me. They can hear me fine though. not sure if that's just the phone or if mine is bad. I may swap it for a black razr next week when they get more in or may swap altogether if the earpiece thing isn't a fluke. only thing I didn't like about the 6230 was it was just a bit too small for me once I got it in my hands and tried using it. I really like the keypad on the razr, very easy for me to use and dial quickly. my recpetion seems great so far as well. I've been checking periodically all day as I've moved from different parts of town.

Dont get me wrong, the RAZR is nice, but the 6230 has WAY more features.

true, the main thing I liked was the bigger display and the keypad. My fingers are just too fat to easily use the 6230's keypad.

Here's the good and the bad. It is the phone; all the Vxxx series phones (including the RAZR), the Mpx-220, and just about every recent Motorola phone suffer this problem. You can seem edit the phone to increase the earpiece volume, but as purchased, it's a common problem with just about every recent Motorola phone. Motorola's quality control just isn't at the same level as Nokia; granted, Nokia hasn't made a phone as sexy as the RAZR. Still, where Nokia's problem might be in the design department, Motorola's problem is in the quality control department. Nokia just needs to hurry up and release the 850MHz version of the 6230i and people wouldn't have to complain/worry about the poor screen and camera of the 6230.

Keep the 6230...I have both the silver and black V3s, and aside from the 'cool' factor, it's just another phone. In the end, I always go back to the trustworthy 6230, Bluetooth, FM radio, MMC, camera/video...and top performer.

Just got done watching "The Island", one of Ewan McGregor's characters uses a 8800, and if that's not a sexy phone, I don't know what is. Holy piss.

It's certainly not ugly and arguably one of Nokia's better design, but it ain't that sexy now.

I used both phones. Went with the Razr as I hated the tiny and crappy display on 6230. That display is horrible. What is the use of putting video playback on a phone if the display is going to be tiny and crappy? I did not have any other problem with the 6230b. But, after using the Razr, I would say this is the king of RF performance. I get excellent reception everywhere with this phone. It also helps to have a great display and cool looks.

The lack of an 850 makes it that less sexy

I do not have either of these phones, but from what i heard i would say go with the RAZR but that is totally up to you. Do you want the phone for looks or for features? because from what i hear the 6230 has more features...

RAZR = For looks
6320 = Features
As for the volume on the RAZR, you can edit it with P2Ktools under "Other Features" Tab just change the value in the Gain Table. I and others in here suggest not going over 4 as to not blow out the speaker or your ears.

I had the same feelings, seeing all the pictures and whatnot, but seeing one on screen, which is pretty close to in real life, simply made me lust over it badly. And it was in the cool blue desktop stand. oh man.

Returned the RAZR and got the 6230.. this phone is GREAT compared to the RAZR. I'll post my thoughts later.

im having the same quandary..... i need a 6230 or razr because i just moved someplace with very fringe area coverage and my current phones dont cut it. these are the two models recommended in these forums, so im researching them both. the razr sure is sexy, but the nokia is less than 1/2 the price and seems to have way more features. i think my wife is going with the razr and ill do the nokia.

question though, ive read it supports mp4 and mmc cards. can i take an mpeg-2 file, convert it to an mp4 format the phone can handle? i'd love to be able to pull something like Lost off my hacked directivo, dump it to the phone and watch it on the hour bus ride on the way to work. thanks!

i've never been much into the RAZR so this would be a very easy choice for me: 6230

I thought the 6230 was the "king" of reception?

Posted by: robr

im just going by what i was told in another thread when i asked about reception. the 6230 and razr being equal and the 6620 being a TINY bit less.

Posted by: chonga

i have both 6230 and 6620 and have a friend with a razr
i think the 6230 and 6620 are equal

the razr.... i honestly think isn't as good as either of the nokia's but not by much...i know b/c at my friends house he gets 1-2 bars, same with me but when he places a call sometime it drops to none and the call can't go through for him and sometimes it does, and for me the call will go through every time with even 1 bar

bottom line if you want features go with 6230
if you want to look cool go with razr
