I just downloaded some demo maps from mapopolis and got the program up and running after i first un-paired then re-paired my gps with the phone. The problem is that once i tried to use the gps later in the day again i got a com port issue on port 7 and it would not connect. so I had to delete the paring and do it over again to get it working which is a drag. I read a little bit about the possibility of having to do a reg edit to get it working correctly is this really necisary? or am i missing somthing. I also wanna add that i do still have MS streets installed on the phone and i can run that without any issues. Is it possible that S&T is interfearing with mapoplis even if they are not running at the same time?

Thanks JD

Did you download the latest version for Smartphones? I have the same issue periodically and thought the problem was with my GPS device as it fixes itself if I turn the device on then off. But I have not installed the lastest version yet which is said to have fixed some connection issues.

I just upgraded to the newest version of mapopolis version 4.58 which looks like it just came out yesterday(july 24th) I am still having the same problems. I get a com port busy message when trying to resume the connection at a later time. the only way to fix it is by unpairing then repairing the connection and then setting up an outgoing bluetooth port (usually port 6 or7) on the phone.
Any one know of a fix for this??? please help

I am using the Holux GPSlim236 Bluetooth GPS with my SMT5600 running Mapopolis. I will occasionally get the same problem. Don't reset you phone as the busy message suggests. Just try again. It always work the second time for me. It's not prefect, but at least I don't have to reset and re-pair.

Well, I haven't been able to get this app to work on my 5600 yet. I've tried pairing and re-pairing. None of the com ports seem to work. There is a check mark next to com 7 outgoing in BT setup configuration, but when I go to 'start GPS', it immediately reports that com 7 is not available. The same thing occurs when com 6 incoming is unchecked. I have paired successfully, but Mapopolis refuses to cooperate.....

I used com 7 too. I will suggest you to unpair the GPS and disable BT Port COM7 first. Do a reset (power cycle your phone). Now enable the BT com port (com 7), the phone will bring u to the menu to pair a device, follow though and pair your GPS. After this is done, soft reset your phone again. Now run Mapoplis and keep your finger crossed. As I mentioned in my previous post, I often get a BT communication too, but I just cancel and retry try and the second time is also the charm. Do reset your phone as Mapopolis suggest you when it has the com problem. BTW, I suggest you to upgrade to the latest 4.6 version. You can get it here http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/...?TOPIC_ID=19374

Good luck

i suggest you guys get tomtom for smartphones instead. its way better than mapopolis...its not slow and wont disconnect or whatever.

Posted by: floepie

AFAIK, it's not available here yet. You don't have experience with it, do you?

i got mind from europe when i was there.

Posted by: floepie

Yes, but you're suggesting people use it here when only European maps exist right now for the smartphone.
