Any thoughts on the Samsung P207, good or bad? My friend is thinking about getting this phone.

-reception?
-battery life?
-durability/reliability?

Thanks for your thoughts.

There is a return policy on the phone if she doesnt like it. Ask some people at the store. They probably have more knowledge on it vs us around here because a lot of us havent seen the phone yet. Noticing that it is a samsung i would probably venture a guess that the reception wouldnt be the greatest and i have heard of reception problems from another agent anyways.

my gf had a x427 and it got excellent reception
better than my v551 at the time and equal to her 3120 now
since she lives in a part of town where you only get 1-2 bars max in her house

i actually heard the p207 gets good reception
nice looking phone too

Turns out the stores in this area don't have them in stock, so we probably won't exchange the temporary handset she has for the P207 until next next Monday...

NateDizzle, I look forward to reading your review - mind PMing me when you write it?

Any additional comments on this handset are welcome =P There's not much else available for ~100 at the store that looks promising...

its been 24 hours and im ready to return this phone. while the rf seems good (better than my samsung s56) it dropped the very fist call i made and unless the volume is turned down all the way there is a hiss. also battery life is okay if you charge the phone every night but i talked for less than 2 hours and the battery is dead (on for about 18 hours on total) the menus seem good but doing something as simple as sending a text message is wat too complex. anyway thats my review. im getting a nokia.

Thanks, Nate...2 hours of talk time on a charge? That is incredibly unacceptable. I don't mean to condescend but do you think there were any other factors in such poor battery life? I heard sometimes it takes a few charge/discharge cycles for a battery to reach it's real operating capacity, or perhaps you have a defective charger? I can't imagine any company trying to sell a phone that dies after 2 hours, and can't imagine Cingular thinking they would actually sell such a phone.

Maybe it's a defective handset? Oh well, my friend has her heart set on this phone for now, so once she does get ahold of one, I'll keep you guys posted on her thoughts on it. Now we're worried if it's such a good idea...

in my experience Li-ion batteries dont need any sort of break in period (i deal with camera equipment for a living, all which use Li-ion batts) regardless, its not a terrible phone its just not good enough to be my only phone.
