Does VX8000 have a total # of ringtones limitation?

CAn you have only so many ringtones at once in that phone? I am having a hard time seeing some of the ringtones I uploaded using BitPim. Yet BitPim shows they are in the phone but the phone does not show them.

I made sure I deleted the sound.dat file then rebooted. I do this every time before I delete or add a new sound to the phone!!

I also have version 05 of this phone wondering if this is where the memory issues show up? Also I am only using 3 megs of my total of 44 megs in DaPhone!!

Help Appreciated

I'm not sure about version 5 because there are some memory problems that are associated with that but there are some issues with having more than 11 ringtones. I have 13 on my phone and I never have a problem. Try using QPST. Do a simple google search.

I figured out the problem I think?

First off all the files shoudl end in *.mid. Even though *.mp3 extention will work, but by having a mix of MP3 and MID files I think it confuses things.

Next thing and most important is from the HOW to Or FAQ, it sais to put the sounds in the user/sound/ringer. Well that is where i think the problems start with limitation.

I am putting all the ringtones as *.mid extentions in /dload/snd, and I have 63 ringers so far, that includes the built in rintones ringtone1,2 etc.

This si how I have gotten around the limitation. I can now have as many as I want up to 44megs of the shared memory.

Maybe the folder /user/sound/ringer has a shared memory problem I dunno?

THanks
