SMT 5600 Profile Stuck

My phone seems to be stuck on speakerphone profile. I have tried everything but can't get the profile to change to normal, silent, meeting, outdoor or anything. The last thing I remember was using my headset and after I unpluged it I wanted to set the profile to silent but it was stuck on headset so then I turned the phone off and then back on it was stuck on speakerphone although my calls don't go to speakerphone. Any help is appreciated.

That's weird man. Hope you won't have to do a hard reset.

[I trust you tried to change the profile manually...]

This "Profile Stick" has been covered on the Smartphone thread, but this same thing happened to me (stuck in Headphone, however) and here's how I solved it (no hard reset necessary - nice):

1) put headphone plug back into phone
2) rotate plug around a few times
3) disconnect plug
4) repeat as necessary

You can't hurt the phone unless you're really grinding it. I just rotate it like 3-4 times, unplug, and the profile changes to Normal. The problem is that a 'switch' in the socket doesn't get toggled - other forums have suggested paper clips, toothpicks, and other sharp objects to flick the switch, but why not use the same object that cuased the problem in the first place?

Hope this works for you.

Tried all that and still can't get it out of headset or speakerphone.

I had the same problem when I first bought the phone.. I had to take it back to AT&T and exchange another one..

It's defective...

I guess I will have to try returning it although it worked fine for a month. I love the phone everything else works fine.

I think I found a fix it seems to be working fine now. I found a registry editor and I went to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Profiles and there is a Registry Value of ActiveProfile. I changed that from Headset to Normal, exited out and then switched the device off and on again. Now I am able to switch between silent, outdoor, or normal.

If it repeats again I will post it.
