MP3 Ringers for KX2: What am I doing wrong?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have tried the instructions in these two threads:

http://www.howardforums.com/archive/topic/507104-1.html

http://www.howardforums.com/archive/topic/507104-1.html

Everytime the file gets to my phone, I have the option to save the file. I do. When I go to it in the media viewer and try to assign it it says 'file cannot be assigned.'

Also, in one of the threads it says 'send an mp3 to the phone, save it. send it form the phone to your computer, it will send the qcp file, then resend it and it will work.' it shows up as a .wav file in my inbox.

any input appreciated.

Both of those links are to the same thread..

Are you changing the files extentions of those mp3s to .mid before transfering them to your phone? I'm pretty sure ('bout 99%) that mp3s are not supported as ringers on the kx2.

So if you haven't already done that...do it. Then put them in your brew/media/sound/ringer folder. Then you should be able to assign them as ringers.

Good luck

whoops, ill have to look for the other link.

so are you saying i need the cable to make it work? ive been trying to send it via text message.

Well with the cable I know it will work.

Anytime I try to send a .mp3 or .mid via text message, my phone crashes when I open the message. So apparently you are making more progress than I ever did. I had to break down and get the cable to put the truetones on my phone.

I've Been Doing The Same Thing, Sent The Song As An Attachment From My Email To My Phone, But When I Try To Assign It As A Ringer It Would Not Save It, The File Size I Have It At Least 70kb To 110kb, Anything Larger The Phone Will Crash And Reset It Self I've Experience That, I'm Waiting For The Cable To Come In So I Can Start Messing With It, Does Anyone Know How To Change Esn On The Handset?
