Cingular flip phones with Bluetooth?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm looking for a phone my company can buy me from Cingular but i want a flip phone with bluetooth. The only one the Cingular site lists is the Motorola V551 and the V3 RAZR. Are there any others?

All the other flip/clamshell phones that have Bluetooth for Cingular are Motorola phones, such as the RAZR and the MPx-220 (some stores still sell them; plus, I think the business department--NBO--also sells them).

In addition to the v551, RAZR & MPx220, business customers can also get the V540, which is essentially a v551 without a camera.

Yeah, I read about that. It's another Moto too. What's up with that?

is there any reason why the v540 is available only by NBO right now?

also, with the v551 if you have a BT earpiece, do you have to open your phone to answer it?

because generally the people that want it (need) are corporate people so they figure they dont need it in the store

Its been a while since I bothered using my BT headset, but if I remember correctly the answer is no. I just pressed the 'answer' button the headset (a SE one) and it worked fine.

I have never used a Bluetooth headset on a flip/clamshell phone, but I positive that it works with the phone closed. With my 6682 and other past candybar phone, you just have to press the button on the headset to answer. I don't see why this would be any different with a flip/clamshell phone. I would think that it would be rather cumbersome and counterintuitive to have to open the phone with a Bluetooth headset. I would try it with my RAZR, but I just don't like the phone that much (it was a gift) or Moto's implementation of Bluetooth.

you can answer the call with the flip closed.

i own both phones and you should go with the V3. It's light years better then the v551

I do, too, and I totally agree. The Razr is just a better phone. The only time I've even turned my v551 on was to sync the contacts and upload the photos. Otherwise, it's just become a paperweight, along with my T616.

my v551 is still in my rotation just for the fact is supports EDGE.

I can understand that. I have the unlimited MediaWorks plan, but I probably come in under the 5MB cap in terms of usage each month. So, EDGE is really not a big deal for me. I think that might change if Cingular gets that HTC Wizard later this year or early next year. Or if I get a new PDA with BT.
