I just got my 902SH/SX813 today and when I uploaded some MP3s onto my SD card, it doesn't play. Does anyone know which format it uses to play music ? Let me know.

It's a Sharp 902SH with the SX813 firmware. What program do I use to convert these ?

I don't think the SX813 firmware can directly read the MP3s. When I uploaded MP3s onto the SD card, it shows up as " Other " files.

mp3s has to be under 192kbps either CBR or VBR but i think both works. put them in the sounds and ringtones folder.

Are CBR and VBR specific formats ?

its how the mp3s was encoded, either you want CBR (constant bitrate) or VBR (variable bitrate)

I'll try and lower bitrate and see if it works. If not, I guess it needs to be in another format. Do you use the SX813 as well ?

i have the Euro 902, but it is 99% identical to the SX813. just that it is smartone not voda.

I tried putting in a 128kps MP3 onto the phone and it still doesn't work. I tried MPA and 3g2 as well. What do you use ?

i dont know, if you have the sx813 it should work with 192 or less. maybe its the firmware, try reflashing it or doing a master reset.

Thanks ! I got it to work. Turns out that it needs to be in the ringtones/sounds folder.

Well, for you information - my SD card was never formatted and I never had a directory for sounds and ringtones. I had to format the card with my phone to create that directory.

errr. what? how were you puttin the mp3 on the phone before the memory card. ur phone only has like 6 megs of free memory built in. i think most ppl would jam their memory card at the first chance. it automatically formats teh card when u put a new card in. it does for me....

The SD card was from my digital camera. I tried putting MP3s onto the card directly but the phone won't recognize it without the folders so I had to format it with the phone before doing so.
