Sending message to phone on another carrier

Ok, my brother has service thru alltel and I have verizon. He recently got a fancy new camera phone thru them. He sent me a video and pictures and sounds and everything. But when I try to send the same to him, it says invalid destination address. I can send a regular text message to just his phone number but i cant send any multi media messages to him. We have tried sending to just his number and the email address that showed when he sent his videos and stuff. The email is (his phone number @mms.alltel.net)
anyone know what to do? If my phone will receive it, it doesn't make any sense to not be able to send it. But since when do any of these carriers make sense. If anyone can help me I'd appreciate it!
