Here's what Todd one of the Facade developers posted regarding the update to Facade over at SBSH:

Greetings all!

I'm glad to announce a new version of Facade, version 0.91. This is another public beta version which can be downloaded for free. smile.gif

The main focus of this version has been on adding support for WM2002 devices and improving stability, although some formatting enhancements have been included as well. A number of internal changes have been made, but externally it should look similar to the previous version.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
The file Facade.home.xml will be overwritten with each release. If you have made modifications to this file, please make your own copy before installing any new Facade versions. When making a copy, the <title> node should also be changed to a different name so that both names are available in the Smartphone home screen control panel. Using a separate file for customizations will ensure that your changes are not lost during the install process.

What's new in version 0.91:

· Added support for Windows Mobile 2002 devices
· Support time localization (24 hour time)
· Initial support for QVGA devices
· Fix problem causing device to hang after switching to Facade and back again
· Fix problems with ActiveSync hanging and duplicating appointments
· Fix selected/unselected/heading format state processing
· Fix duplicate entry on multi-day appointment near end of list
· Fix left/right padding support for program launcher
· Fix missing adjacent recurring appointments
· Fix problem with tasks due today showing as overdue
· Fix problems which caused Facade to not update the appointment/task information
· Redesign schedule/task update notification
· Change formatting of schedule/task views to indent text
· Support format states in global <Facade> section
· Support <format> definitions within <background> definitions
· Support x/y/w/h specifications for absolute positioning and size
· Support bgcolor (background color)
· Support bgimage (background image)
· Support fontWeight value "medium" and numeric font weights
· Shorten dates on past due tasks
· Show “…” when text won’t fit on the display
· Indent schedule/task information under date
· Add ShowPartialLines setting, allowing the bottom view row to be removed if it does not fit
· Add options for showing extra text in appointments view: ShowTodayText, ShowTomorrowText, ShowNoAppointmentsText
· Allow tab formatting to be controlled separately for each tab (<Tab> node)
· Allow view formatting to be controlled separately within each tab (<View> node)
· Support showing icon/label/both on tab (Show=)
· On button definitions, allow args= as synonym for arguments=
· Change default to not show completed tasks (ShowCompleted="0")
· Change default font size to new value "normal" (point size 9)
· Change default to "wrap around" screen edge when navigating left/right

Here is some information from the release notes:

Important

Facade requires a Windows Mobile Smartphone device. This is a public beta release. Please be aware the there are risks inherent in using any beta software. If you do not feel comfortable with potential risks to your data, please do not run beta software.

Upgrading Facade

When upgrading from a prior version the Smartphone will normally handle all the details and reboot for you if necessary. However, in some cases it may be necessary to select a different home screen layout, turn the phone off and on again (reboot), and reselect the Facade home screen layout.

Installing Facade

First extract the ZIP file you downloaded to a specific folder.
Inside the ZIP file you will find an executable (EXE) file named Facade.exe. Run this file while your Smartphone device is connected to your desktop PC; this will run the Facade installation automatically on your Smartphone.

Mac OS users can use the CAB file also included inside the ZIP file to install Facade on their device.

PLEASE READ: Facade will not be visible until a Home screen layout that utilizes Facade is selected. Included with this installation is a default Facade home screen layout. To choose this layout for your Smartphone please follow this procedure:

1. Select “Start” from your Smartphone home screen
2. Select “Settings” (it may be necessary to hit ‘9’ one or more times before the Settings option is located)
3. Select “Home Screen”
4. Use the left/right arrows to change the “Home screen layout” to “Facade Default”
5. Select “Done”

Customization

Currently, customization of Facade requires some XML editing. That will probably change in the future.

If you wish to customize your Facade Home screen layout, please make a copy of the supplied Facade.home.xml file, change the <title> in your copy, and make any desired changes to that new copy. Making a copy is important because installing any version of Facade will overwrite the Facade.home.xml file.

The Facade.home.xml file is located in the \Storage\Application Data\Home directory on your Smartphone. The easiest way to edit this file is to connect your PC using ActiveSync, locate the file using Windows Explorer, and drag the file onto your desktop. Next, right-click the file and choose “Edit”. After saving any changes the file can be dragged back to the Smartphone folder. To view any changes it is also necessary to select a different Home screen layout or color scheme first, in order to force the layout to be reloaded by Windows Mobile.

Please post any thoughts, new suggestions, or bugs you find with this version. With your help Facade will continue to improve!

Can you add fizz traveller plug in to facade beta so i can see the weather also?

Posted by: Omega2008

Yep just add the XML code for it.

Updated! Also updated Papyrus.

My XML code was backwards compatible; shouldn't be a problem for those skeptic to update

I applied the update this morning, seems to run a little smoother than the previous version, less lag when synching also. GREAT job SbSh!

Wouldn't mind sharing that little bit of code would you...just the fizz traveler part?

Posted by: thielsa

I only had the toolbar customized and some other settings that were updated with the new release in my XML. I tried my XML and the new one, and decided to cut/paste the toolbar from my old XML into the new one and use it. So far I think that the aesthetics are much better and the instability I've been having with lock-ups is gone (crossing fingers).

thanks for the update on this

No, I wouldn't mind but the problem is that I don't use Fizz Traveler...but it works the same as any plugin.

One thing to remember, make a backup of your "Facade.Home.XML" BEFORE upgrading as the new version will overwrite your existing file.

But if you made your own custom homescreen with the Facade plugins then the updates to Facade should reflect thru the code in the custom one I made...the custom one has a different name then the default Facade.home.xml file.

Posted by: nausea

Works well so far

Posted by: CERT_USAF

Yes but for the people who have just changed code in the Facade.home.xml file and don't have a backup once they install the update their file will be overwritten by a new clean one.

No problemo Omega. Just didn't want anyone to make the same mistake I did while I was beta testing the WM2002 version! LOL!
