Cingular Email/Wap Settings for the moto V635

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

... I did check the forum and I tried entering that stuff in to my phone, for one I can't find anywhere to enter the wap settings, just Email... I want to set up SMS messaging etc... I looked through that huge thread but it all seems as though it's other people asking for help with THEIR phones... If anyone can tell me how to set it up for the V635, it would be appreciated.

It's the same as the V600. All you have to do is go to the Cingular support page and it will send the WAP settings to your phone.

I'm sure you didn't look entirely through the Cingular FAQ forum or else you would've found this:

Now, pay attention to my signature. Phone discussions go in the Phone Forum.

The support page will sned it to the V635... I called them and asked them to send it and they said it wouldn't work becuz they don't support my phone... but if u say so I guess, it may work I'd just like to know how someone who has a v635 did it ... that's all

ok you have one... lol i'll try ur way then

hold on ... the ota thing for cingular orange will work for me in the US?

says my device isn't in the list... so i choose v600?
I would think it would be the V551 since it doesn;t run triplets firmware like the 600, it has very similar firmware to the V635

Yes, choose the V600. They are virtually the same phone.

Customer Service doesn't want to help you when they see you have a phone Cingular doesn't sell. Don't even listen to them.

The only problem with sending the settings via OTA is that it will lock the settings and you can't change them. I did this with my V635 and it works great, but I didn't like the fact it was locked.

What was locked? won't a master clear just fix that?

Also I see ur In north jersey, I'm in Jersey City, what about u?

Posted by: bobolito

Nope....Masterclear won't fix that. What I meant was that the OTA sends you the settings and you can use WAP just fine, but if you want to look at the WAP settings or change them you cannot because they are locked. You will see a lock symbol next to the settings in Web Sessions.

ahh ok cool, so 2 more things...

1) do i choose V600 or V551 or does it matter ( i remember u said v600 but it runs triplets...)
Ahh I family ^ there

Either V551 or V600 should not make any difference as they all use exactly the same WAP configuration structure.

I am in Paterson.

Tried the V551 settings and it failed on my phone once i hit ok after hitting the ok after entering my pin... did u suse v600 or v551?must medianet be configured first????????

Posted by: bobolito

The MediaNet settings are the ones that put the WAP settings so you can connect to the Internet and use your phone browser. I thought that was all you wanted. I am confused.

Anyway, I thought you might be interested in this. You can load this file (below) using a P2K file manager to your phone and it will load the CIngular WAP settings unlocked. THis is what I ended up doing to my V635.

http://www.vaciloneros.com/download/WebSession.bin

If you do this, make sure you REMOVE the .bin extension from the file.

also I don't have anything that says ***web sessions*** anywhere on my phonee... do i have to seem edit to unlock it?

also... when I'm uploading this file to my phone where and what do i save it as? if not .bin? what directory... I'm confusing myself now... I still think I'll have to seem edit to put web settings on my menu unless I'm missing something

Posted by: bobolito

There is no Web Settings. The phone has Web Sessions. Inside there you can put the settings for the browser.

Posted by: bobolito

I am moving this topic to the Cingular Phones forum.

Thnx, nevermind i found web sessions

Posted by: An1m

Still don't know where to save the unlocked web settings with p2k man, guess I'll try entering them manually now that I know where web sessions is...

Posted by: bobolito

I think its in the /a/ folder. Basically you just replace the existing Websessions file in your phone.

Posted by: An1m

well I know it's in /a but what is the extension of the file if it's not .bin... guess I'll just dl the file and try it out thnx for all ur help man

Posted by: bobolito

Your welcome. There's no extension at all. I just put one fake extension on it so your browser can download it. All you have to do is delete the extension.
