Help!!! Stuck on Restart Merry-go-round.

Treo 650 Cingular/Blue

Here's what's happening.

I'm away from home. The phone has been happily using a Cellular One signal. The signal is fairly strong.

Today, the 650 went into the "Phone Off" mode. I pushed the red/off button and got the "welcome to Cingular" screen.

Then the phone went into a "network search". It found the Cellular One network but, within seconds, it went into a Palm restart -- the one with palm one on the screen and the bar traveling from left to right. At the end of this, it ended up on the original keypad screen with "phone off" in the upper left corner.

No matter how many times I try to turn the phone on, it goes through this exact cycle -- always ending with the phone off.

There is sufficient signal here. I've been using it. And, my wife and daughter can use it on their Nokia phones.

Suggestions?

If all else fails, I would do a Hard reset. However, I have BackupBuddy and I know how to restore with my Palm Desktop.
Peaches would probably tell you to do a warm reset. That is to push in the reset button while press down the 5 way up key. Try a warm reset first.
