Anyhow. I am moving from the field to an "in office" job. I need to connect my personal laptop to the net. I have used an old Nokia with Bluetooth to get on Cingular's EDGE service in the past, but am curious about the Treo.

I have two Treo Questions:
1) Can I connect my laptop to an EDGE connection via the Treo in the cradle, USB'ed to that laptop?

2) Can I use the Treo's Bluetooth to connect to EDGE via that laptops Bluetooth PC card?

I didnt follow the Bluetooth-DUN saga. Did Palm release their Bluetooth-DUN profile already?

Palm just released an update to Cingular's Treo 650, and it now includes Bluetooth DUN. Hell, all 3 carries now support Bluetooth DUN with the latest updates. Sprint, Verizon, Cingular.

I am heading over to the store to pick a 650 up today. I assume it won't have the new update installed.

I don't believe Verizon does, at least not on mine with the 1.03 update. Shadowmite's hack works, but I don't think Verizon officially enabled DUN.

No, the CNG Treo 650 won't have the new updates installed; you'll have to do that yourself. It looks like you found the page with the CNG 1.15 update; it's not too difficult implement (I updated via the Hotsync method; in the past, I've been told it's easier to do via an SD card ... I didn't notice a difference in terms of time or effort). If you have any problems, PM me and I'd be glad to help you through it.
