SE z500, ? on answering a call

My boyfriend just got a Sony Ericsson z500. I may be missing something blatently obvious, LoL, but...
Right now, the phone answers the call when the flip is opened...and we cannot find where it can be changed so that the flip can be opened without answering the call, and just using a button to pick up.
So.. is this possible?

I'm used to Moto's (and LG's in the past), and he's always had Nokias...this phone is just laid out completely different. I'm just getting really irritated because I'm having a hard time figuring anything out on this thing! And I even went to the user's guide, and it's not so great either. Grr.

There is no way I've found to not have the phone answer when you open the flip when it rings. You can however have the phone open and then receive a call and push a button to take the call.

I'm not sure if the Z500 has it but on the Z600, if you go to "Calls", then "Manage Calls" there should be an option "Open To Answer".

I was checking out the z500a users guide here:

On page 23 its says:

To answer a call
* If your flip is active, simply open your phone.
* If your flip is not active, >yes

Apparantly there is some way to make the flip active or not, but I couldn't find it in the user guide anywhere.

You might find this option in the Settings>Calls>Manage Calls menu like randomtask77 said.

If not, try the Settings>General>Setup Wizard

Thank you for the replies.

I had noticed the active flip as well, but I couldn't find any more information either. I tried everything, and we are still not seeing anything tha tallows you to open the flip and the phone not answer the call. *shrug*

If anyone else knows anything else to try, please let me know. Thanks again, everyone!

So it wasn't under "Manage Calls"?

When you click on the center button, go to "Settings" (or press the "#" key).
Scroll to the right until you reach "Calls"
Scroll down to "Manage Calls"
Hopefully there'll be an option there for Active Flip.

Unfortunately, I don't have a Z500 with me to know if the option is really there, and I tried the "Try the Phone" feature on the US SE site, but this is what I'm guessing it's under since it's on the Z600 (I have one, so I know where it is). If it's not there, maybe you should contact either Cingular or SE.

Go to edit profiles and change the answering mode. Mine is set to automatic.

Change it to normal or any key.

by the way I have a z500a
