I recall reading somewhere that Vodafone pay as you go (talk) supports international roaming. Can anyone confirm this? How often do you have to top-up before the balance expires? Also, where I can a find a chart showing the tariffs?

Yes, voda payg supports international roaming in some countries. The one I have roams here in the USA. You can go to the page below and click on "using mobiles abroad" in the drop-down for more info.

I am not sure how often it has to be topped up. I have not topped mine up since February. But, I believe it has to be used every 90 days. You can either make/take a chargeable call or send and SMS to keep it active. My primary card when I'm in the UK is a Virgin card though. It's cheaper to call back to the states (25 p) and it's generally cheaper to use than the vodafone. Plus, it's easier to keep active. I just make a GPRS connectioan from here in the states for about 5 pence once in a while. It has a longer validity period....at least I have read somewhere that Virgin does not really enforce the non-use/expiration thing. I have read of people that have not used their Virgin payg in 3-4 years and the thing is still active!

wow, I should get a Virgin SIM then... LOL!!

Anyway, I've been to the US, Belgium and France using my Vodafone SIM card when it was on Prepaid... It's now on Contract, and that's a different sotry altogether.....

It did not require any setup whatsoever, I even went into two Vodafone stores to check before I went, Both reps said nothing was needed, but if you want to make sure, call Customer Services (191, I think, but don't quote me on that) and ask "How can I enable worldwide roaming?" or something like that.

I thought it was 6 months for expiration - the fact that it is abroad should not make any difference,... Yea, I'm pretty sure you've got to make a chargeable call or something... to keep it active and to reset the counter.
