The Real wallpaper size for the LG8100

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

So I have seen a few threads saying the size to make wallpaper images for the LG8100 is 176x220. Well I tried using that size, and like many others, my image was being cropped to better fit the screen. After a little testing I have found that the best fit image size for the screen is 176x150(apparently you have to take into account all the different tool bars). This will not cause the phone to resize the image.

Unfortunately, If you have your Verizon Banner turned off, you still get a large white space at the top where the banner would be. As far as I know, there is no way of removing that. You would think with the banner turned off, the space could be used for making bigger wallpapers. Just another reason why I am thinking about sending my 8100 back.

Anyways, hopes this helps someone out there.

I was just looking at my 8100 and I have the Verizon Wireless banner turned off or they call it on the phone "ERI Banner" and my wall paper goes all the way up to the top and there are no white spaces... Maybe I'm just not understanding where you are having white space, but mine is just wallpaper

Do you have a custom background that you put on the phone yourself? Or are you using one of the default pictures, or a picture you took with the camera?

I just tried it on the front screen and the main screen. I tried putting one of the pictures that they provide in the phone and one that I took myself and neither have a white bar at the bottom! The problem that you might be having is that when you have the phone on vibrate mode or when you have messages or missed calls it shows a white bar at the bottom and then it shows an icon. If you have no phone messages or missed calls then you should not see the white bar at the bottom when you have a picture that was provided or when you have something that you took yourself.

First off, the white bar is at the top, where the verizone banner is. Even with the banner turned off, I get a white bar IF I USE A PICTURE THAT WAS CUSTOMIZED. AKA, not a picture I took using the camera, not a picture that was provided with the phone, but a picture I added to my phone through BitPim.

my original post was to tell people who are added wallpapers through bitpim what size to use, but to know they will run into a white bar at the top, regardless of if the banner is on or off.

i saw thoz same numbers posted in a few threads then i saw "these" numbers posted

Main: 176X184
Front: 128X112

I have my info bars ON and these numbers are "dead on". Just tested it with banner off and still dead on.

Here are the pics I made if you want to test them. Front and main wallpapers.

See, when I use those numbers (176x184), it will cause the picture to resize automatically, and makes it so there is a large white space on the left and right of the picture. By using the 150 instead of 184, it doesn't automatically resize the photo.

Ahh I think I understand what your saying. Yes I see white bars before I actually “set it” as my wallpaper so you are correct. These numbers must not be true screen dimensions. Here is a shot of my phone with this wallpaper

Well, I think 176x184 is the true size of the screen, but in order to make a wallpaper work that you download from bitpim, it needs to only be the size between the verizon banner on top, and the date banner on bottom. That distance is 150 pixels. If you use 150 instead of 184, it will not resize the pic automatically. The other problem is that if you turn the banner off, you will still have whitespace there, you cannot increase the picture size to fill that white space.

Again, this only seems to be a problem with any picture you load from bitpim. The default pics and anythign you take with the camera seem to be fine. I wonder if pics you email to your phone can be bigger....
