My VM4500 is done....now what?

I've had my Sanyo VM4500 for about a year and a half. I love it. Great functions, great user interface. However, its been acting up lately, dropping calls, no reception. I've taken it into the Sprint store 3 times and they can't figure out what's wrong.

They're going to replace the phone for me. My question, can anybody suggest a good replacement phone for the Sanyo VM4500?

I'm basically looking for speaker clarity, reception, internet, speakerphone, etc.

Thanks.

I recommend the LG-MM535 good speaker phone, reception and great interface. But if a slider style phone is not in your future, try the MM-A880 or the MM-7400 really good phones overall and fast internet. I would recommend the 8300, but the speaker still sounds a bit boxy.

i'd have to recommend the phone i have wouldnt i? lol...no but the sanyo 7300 is a great phone, the speaker phone is ok, nice big colour screen, colour screen on the outside flip and it has the push to talk feature (if you'd ever use that...)

only problem i've had with my 7300, is the raised portion on the keys (that round part with 'menu ok') in the middle has left an impression on my screen, not bad, just a annoying...btw the reason mine is always in my pocket, and i work for an auto industry...moving heavy stuff and such, so if you plan to have your phone on you at work, and do alot of moving things/bumping into stuff, heavy physical stuff, may look into something that doesnt have a raised spot on the keypad...or dont have it on your belt/or in your pocket/or in one of those leather belt thingys/or the plastic belt clip...

Same with mine, I have a circle on my lower part of the cell screen. Is not a problem for me either, but normally it should not be there..

7300 is basically a 5500 w/o camera and rubber grips

i am having this problem too. i thought it was just sprint service but now i see someone else is having this problem. does anyone else have this problem? and is there any way to fix it? (like firmware or something?)

i have the same problem, like the redialing loop. The firmware needs to be updated if you have 1.008,it needs to be 1.201,my friend got it done and it fixed it completely.I personally dont think any of the new phones really fit what i want either too big,too Samsung,or not enough features in a smaller package so i want to use this one as long as possible.I have about 10 Sprint phones and keep coming back to this one.

do you go to the sprint store to update the firmware? or do you download it with a usb cable?

Posted by: Milkbone98

you have to go to the store, the closest one to me with a tech is 30 minutes away and the tech doesnt know how to do it.Im gonna see if she'll let me do it myself.Sometimes you have to ask for the update by number, also, check to see if they actually do it before you leave!

My 5500 blew up last Friday. Sprint store gave me a new 8300 as a replacement. I'm selling it on Ebay as soon as my 9000 arrives. The 8300 has the best flip out of all the Sanyo's I've owned. The size of it is awesome. Only problem is battery life. The extended battery is not out yet. Other then that I would recommend one.

Same exact problem I have. I've had it for about a year and two months. Sprint is not willing to replace it they did upgrade the firmware but that didn't help my problems at all.

From all the phones I can afford I hate all of them. I can't seem to make up my mind on what I wan't . None seem to messure up to the size and the features this one has without blowing another $400-$500.

If its a problem that only this phone deals with that cancels my ebay autions I'm watching to bid on.

Are you sure that the firmware really is updated? Use ##786 to check. it should be version 2.01 at least, some techs have been known to lie

Not sure what version it is but it was updated back in February/March. I can't no longer check since my screen cracked.

that sux.The reason i ask is because i cant count the number of customers that come to me with problems with their phone that dont go away after a visit to a Sprint tech who claims to have updated either firmware or PRLs ,then when i check its either PRL10015 or original firmware still in the phone.I guess they take the phone in the back room, either smoke a cigarette or eat lunch and return the cust the untouched phone.Could happen to anyone.

Good possibillity cuz I never noticed any diference after that upgrade. I'm lucky I never experinced the crazy auto dialing people complain about.
