i got the data cable with the black box in the middle for the 8100 and i keep gettin this error message...

COM7: could not open port: (2, 'CreateFile', 'The system cannot find the file specified.')
2:06:15.483 COM7: Opening port COM7, 115200 baud, timeout 3.000000, hardwareflow 0, softwareflow 0
2:06:17.578 COM7: Open of comm port failed
2:06:17.578 Error: Failed to open communications - COM7
COM7: could not open port: (2, 'CreateFile', 'The system cannot find the file specified.'

im wonderin if the data cable doesn't work i followed all the directions in the thread....i think im a switch to the **** E 815 ..!!!

First are you using Bitpim?

If so go to view>view filesystem and click on the little plus sign in the box and it should show the whole file system. That will allow you to add ringtones flix pix etc. If you still get an error message trying to access te filesystem then its something to do with your comm port and i recommend reinstalling the drivers completely.

I have a data cable as well for the 8100 and the only way i can access it is through the filesystem. No other way.
