tips for painting... sure can of krylon black gloss for 15 with shipping...

1 coat every other day for 3-4 days until desire

if u mess up, such as paint drips, build up, etc... you will need to buy another set of v635 faceplate which would be around $30-$40 making your total 45-55 with the krylon paint...

why risk it when you can have it for ... $65....

um ok...he said $5-$10...

just spray it...use light coats, and allow it to properly dry between coats. make sure you let it dry, if u pick it up the marks wont come out and will be noticble. And if you mess up really bad simply sand that paint off and start over. Oh, n also paint inside like in a garage and use a spray that bonds to metal like krylon. Done n done.....

Tips?

1. lightly scuff the faceplates with a scotchbrite pad
2. prime with a good metal primer
3. paint - several light coats
4. clearcoat - several light coats

if you screw up ie, drips and runs, take it back down to metal with the scotchbrite pads and start over.

btw, the faceplates from v635.com are powdercoated or chromed. Should be more durable than paint.

LOL

I'm way to lazy to do everything that I just typed.... actually I almost didn't bother typing it out... I guess I'm feeling helpful tonight. Besides, I'm going to end up with powdercoated ones for $45US. My time and the materials would come to more than that if I painted them.

Anyway, the process that I listed would be the "right" way to do it, but it is the most labour and materials intensive.

Just buy a can Krylon Fusion paint for 7bux Cdn.
no prep work, no priming, etc.......just give it a few light coats and then after 7 days when it hardens, give it more coats if it needs it.

the pics are not the greatest as it looks better in person, but this is what i did

You can sand prep it, get a good gloss enamel paint, heat up your oven to 300 degree paint it,put it in the oven for about 8-10 min and it will be baked hard after you let cool four about a hour

Sorry, just makes me laugh. Painting vs Powder Coating.....yep, its an alternative. I will be here to fix it if you mess it up and dont want to deal with wasting your time anymore! No worries, I can strip off any paint you put on. I dont care if you put 100 coats on it, I will fix it for you. And u dont have to buy a new set of faceplates....just send me your original set and I can do those for way cheaper.

Has anyone else tried painting their housing yet? I'm planning on buying 2 housings (in case I mess up) and painting them black then swapping them with the originals. I'd like to know if anyone has any tips on this
