i heard you can assgin your own wav/mp3 etc file for sms alert
is it true? um can anyone teach me step by step how to do it?

Meun> Settings> sound and alerts> message alert > go all the way to the last tone (right softkey should now be changed from play to replace) simply replace it with your own mp3

can you change the volume of an sms message i like my ringer loud but my sms to be low and with vibrate

Dont think so, but you can try lowering the volume of a mp3 first (with some kind of editing software), upload that to your phone then use the lowered mp3 as the sms alert
