Audiovox SMT5600 bluetooth tethering w/ Cingular

I used to have a MPX220 that i had successfully tethered with my HP notebook and my IPAQ - however, the voice part of the phone was sooo pathetic that i called into cingular...they told me they no longer use the MPX and that they would replace mine with the SMT5600 - so far so good.
got my 5600 in the mail yesterday.... looked good at first...had everything up and running in flash...except for the bluetooth - i got my GPS and headset working fine, but the phone does not provide any bluetooth modem services to either my notebook or PPC....called cinuglar...what a waste of time...called audiovox...ditto....does anybody know what the issue is? did cingular disable the bluetooth modem feature?

Have you gone into the bluetooth setup on the settings screen?
a) you have to turn the BT radio on
b) you have to pair the BT and phone together.
