You can also put WAV tones without using any of those programs you just have to either send it via bluetooth or IR..

Treyqutie,

How do I put the WAV files as ringtones???

Wirelessly posted (Palm Treo 650 (Sprint): Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/hspr-H102; Blazer/4.0) 16;320x320)

You can also use MiniTones. It's a free program that will convert MP3 into WAV on your treo. Put the MP3 on your SD card, open the program, select the song, trim it to your liking and save it. It's freeware from treo central. But I use Ringo as well. It's a lot easier to customize.

Lets see if anybody still reads this thread that can help!

Treo 680, got the free trial of Ringo, got it to work. Liked it, wanted the power of the "pro" version. Paid my money.

I now have no sound at all from my 680. Lost the vibrations as well until a soft reboot.

WTF? I could hard boot, I'm backed up and all, but I hate to have to do that.

Any thoughts kids??

Ok, the "no sound at all problem" was all me!!!!
I bumped the kill sounds switch on the top of the phone.

But I am still having issues with "some" mp3's and Ringo. I will add that I made all of these mp3's from songs I own. One worked while I had the trial version on Ringo, and now wont with pro. Some new ones I made after buying Ringo Pro won't work at all.

I have deleted Ringo from the 680 because I thought it had killed all my sounds, I will re-install later and report back.

thanks

Ok, so what I was doing wrong see, was trying to "import" the mp3 files using the "import tones" function.

This does not work. At least not with the 680.

I have found that if you just go to the tone you wish to change in Ringo, the drop down menu, and choose "pick tone" at the top of that menu, you can get to your sim card and the mp3 you wish to use.

I'm happy!

Remember folks, the user manual is your friend!!

I like Ringo a lot on my Treo 650. The Pro version is worth the cash, and having seperate ring tones per person is not something I see offered on other phones very often. Plus, this has saved me how much money on ringtones being able to use MP3 files. lol

The only way to go - and easy enough to use. I especially think it is worth any expense because it lets you personalize ring tones to the caller. If they aren't in my address book it plays "Who are U" (theme from CSI - by the Who) and I can look at screen and ignore if I wish as I do not know who is calling. If it is someone I know I can send to voice mail if busy or answer. Pretty cool.

As an aside I am looking into YouMail as a personalized voice mail system. It's beta right now, and I haven't set it up (lack of time) but it can personalize the message to several callers. If I want I can let a business associate know I am getting a lap dance (lol) or tell the boss I am on the gholf course right now (or in a casino) and the phone is in the car. I'll post a thread after I get it set up - hopefully soon.

YouMail... never heard of it. I looked at there web site, is it free? Im glad it works with T-Mobile, but does it overtake my default voice mail?

It was free when I got it, but I am sure there is an enhanced version out there that does more.

I'm a newby here - my son sent me here after he got tired of me complaining about not being able to copy a wav ringtone to my 700. I read this and other threads and they really didnt solve my problem (and I sure didnt want to have to look for the manual!)

I ended up on a good website that so far seems free. Hopefully its not a Napster type of setup, but I was able to get the ringtone I was looking for, and the tech support emailed me within hours when I had problems figuring it out.

The site is phonezoo.com and here are the instructions on how to easily copy a wav file to your list of ringtones:

1. Open the MMS message. Ringtone is send as an attachment to this message
2. One the message is open, the ringtone starts playing
3. Click on the Application icon. This is the button right next to Alt button at the bottom right hand side corner
4. Message menu will open up. Select 'Save Sound' under Message Menu. The sound will be saved
5. Exit to Home screen to change your default ringtone
6. Launch the 'Prefs' application. Under the General heading, select 'Sounds & Alerts'
7. On the 'Sounds & Alerts' preferences screen, choose Ring Tones application
8. Set the downloaded ringtone for both 'KNOWN CALLER' and 'UNKNOWN CALLER'
9. Select Done

I'd like to check-out YouMail. Dapastaguy do you know anything about the referral code?

I didn't have one, and it does say optional, so it's not a major issue. I still haven't done anything with it other than sign up.

FYI - it does replace your default email number with another number - you have to make the change in your settings. And it notifies you of voice mails with a text message.

I've been trying-out the beta of YouMail. I like that I can have different greetings for different callers, personal or business, and I can listen to my emails online. But, I don't like that I'm informed of new voicemail with a text message instead of the usual "voicemail waiting icon".
