well i was just at sprintusers.com and someone stated in a thread that sanyo shipped a batch of 5300 with bad ear piece volume and now there is a batch that has better ear piece volume thats available right now. i got the upgrade too and i noticed a little bit of an increase in volume tmo. can a sprint person in this site verify this?

Wow, that's fantastic news! Now when you say that you got the upgrade.. are you talking about a 2nd edition phone, or you got a software upgrade in the store. I would hate to buy a 1st edition 5300 only to find out that it is an unfixable hardware thing.

i got the software upgrade and i noticed a little bit in volume imo . but the guy in the above thread said it was a hardware upgrade they did to the phone

A little bit louder isn't going to do it. A lot louder is what is needed. I'm very curious to see if Sanyo actually fixes the problem.

If that's the case then are we just looking to get phones with the latest firmware already on them? Mine is the first revision, I picked it up the 12th.

I could prolly go get an exchange with little problem. I'm gonna go get that software update first tho and see if that changes it enough.

i have the first phone, bought last monday. how could i call sprint to exhange it? is it a software upgrade or do i have to get a completely new phone? will sprint honor my exchange ofa first batch phone for a new one?

I just upgraded to the new software version and notice little or no difference in volume increase. I would sure like to know if I should return my phone and get one with the hardware newer hardware revision. I want to make sure it's not a rumor before I make a fool of myself at the sprint store.

Appearantly, the new software has NOTHING to do with earpiece volume. There also hasn't been any confirmation of there actually being two batches of 5300s.

I think you're just imagining the volume being louder due to a software upgrade. And what kind of hardware upgrade do they do in store? I mean, they wouldn't replace my bent antenna on the 5150 in the store, I really don't think they would open up the phone and mess with other parts. Not that I'd trust them to do that anyways............
