VM Flasher V7 8910 - What have YOU tried?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I've scrounged through several forums/sites and still haven't been able to get a clear idea of what exactly works for putting/replacing ringtones and wallpapers on the Virgin Mobile 8910.

IF YOU HAVE TRANSFERRED RINGTONES/WALLPAPERS SUCCESSFULLY

What was the EXACT process you followed? Did you alter the rms.db file? If so, did you change only the size? Did you change both the name and size? Did you follow the tutorial listed on http://www.vox8910.ca.tt ?

IF FRIED YOUR PHONE ATTEMPTING TO TRANSFER RINGTONES/WALLPAPERS

What EXACTLY did you do? Did you ever manage to recover it? Did you figure out what you did wrong?

I've heard about 50 different stories of people claiming "Oh, I fried my phone" but with no specifics. If you could please post what you tried in great detail about what worked/didn't work for you, it would be a great help.

i got wallpapers on it. i sized it to 128x134, named it 50, 58, or 60.bmp, adn under the mygraphics folder, replaced the corresponding file with the one from the computer by right clicking and selecting 'overwrite'

Well, the one thing I did learn from reading all the horror stories was NEVER to delete any pictures (ringtones too?) from the phone via the software/cable, but only via the phone itself.

That's the first commandment.

I was able to get both ringtones and wallpapers on it. I followed the tutorial exactly. I first downloaded the ringtones/wallpapers from VM, then replaced those with my own. I changed the name (not the filename, but the name that shows on the phone), and the file size.

I finally found a decent tutorial at http://tutorials.thephonemall.net/f...asherrings.html

I successfully uploaded both wallpapers AND ringtones by simply overwriting the ones that were already there. For making the ringtone, simply follow the tutorial. I used the 128x134 bmp file for my wallpaper. The cable I used was a standard USB with a little box in the middle.
