Really liking 1.47 :-)

I installed 1.43 and really did not get any improvement in the earpiece volume, then I went to 3.46 and had some stability issues, changed to 3.45 and things were stabile again. 3.45 had improved earpiece volume, but still not great (it was louder, but I believe it was not clear enough). I installed the 1.47 ROM and I must say that I am finally very happy with the earpiece volume!

I've lost WM 10 which is not big deal (it was cool, but in day-to-day use, I rarely ever used it). I also lost the fileviewer, also cool, but the screen is really to small for me to make it useful.

It's odd to hear how everyone gets different results from the various roms, but if you feel your earpiece volume is still not up to par, I would suggest giving 1.47 a try. Of course, your results may vary :-)

im going to prolly try it, i just configed 3.46 all up and overall, im not super impressed, its a nice rom, but not very stable, 1.43 was much faster loading menu and all of that good stuff, volume is about the same earpiece wise... im going to try 1.47, this is fully unbranded rom rite? i hate having to unbrand , i just need to brand it to my cingular way =). i agree with you on the WM10, nothing special, does the same as WM9, but just a cooler interface..

Question, does 1.47 come standard set on english? if not whats the menu codes to set it to english.

Posted by: Edgarh

Is this unbranded and I have to download or do I use the online tool to download and install?

If branded, is it cingular or ATT?

There is more information on 1.47 in this thread:

http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=682015

As already mentioned it is unbranded. It supports UK English, US English, Deutch, Francais, Espanol, Portuges, Russian. I believe it defaults to UK English (I had to change the regional settings is US English for dates etc).

As always, visit omega's page for info on setting up data connections, etc:

http://spaces.msn.com/members/derrickbuckner/

The May blog has the data connection, proxy settings for Cingular (the screen shots are missing but the text has the correct instructions).

i really like 1.47 rite now, loaded all my software on it and it works great so far... volume is same as 3.46 and 1.43 reasonably louder earpiece, all roms, speakerphone sucks but then again we all know its a POS speaker..

xplode, is 1.47 still working well for you? Just curious.

Posted by: paraklas

After 3 weeks of heavy use, 1.47 is the best rom ever released. Not a single shut down.

Has anyone tried any GPS apps with this ROM? If so, were you successful in pairing it and obtaining a fix with a Bluetooth GPS unit? Thx, Sabesh.

What rom are you using? You can't get GPS to work with your MPX 220? My unbranded MPX 220 is coming tmmr. It just arrived in Richmond, B.C. I should get it tomorrow morning.

Checkout this thread:

I tried GPS with 1.43 and could not get it working as this north american ROM did not have an option to setup an incoming comm port. I switched to the Asian ROM (3.46) to resolve the issue. However, I'd like to see the new North American ROM 1.47 correcting this problem (I hate tweaking all the stuff in the Asian ROM to make it English and getting rid of the branding etc).

Sabesh.

Maybe someone else can confirm it for us? I'm planning to flash it to 1.47. I don't want to go through the hassle of editing everything, although I don't have a GPS yet.

I agree, been using 1.47 for a 3 weeks and not a single shut down. I used 3.45 previously, but it would turn off by itself. Tried a hard reset but it still turns off. Maybe all those registry tweaks you have to do for 3.45. Don't really need to do them for 1.47. Personally, don't really need WMP10.

As for Bluetooth GPS, I've been using Mapopolis with a generic Bluetooth GPS with 1.47. Those 16 channels ones on Ebay. Minor problems so far, but it works. I didn't need to do Bluetooth registry edits as mentioned earlier. I set up mine 3 week ago so I’ll try it from memory. Make sure Bluetooth is set to ON and the GPS is not in the Device List. Go to Start->Accessories->BT SerialPortSetup, put a check on Outbound COM port and press Done. It will open up the Bluetooth Setting windows after you press Done, then proceed to pair the GPS like any device. This is important. Don’t pair your GPS before you run the BT SerialPortSetup. In Mapopolis GPS options, set Port to Com6 and Baud rate 4800. I believe this should also work on previous rom with the same BT SerialPortSetup under Accessories. I don't remember the which rom version it was. Hope this help.

For the Asian ROMs you will need to go to Start, Settings, Bluetooth, Menu, COM Ports. There you can set up your incomming and outgoing COM ports.

Hi all, I've been using the Generic 1.47 ROM for about 3 weeks and have not noticed any issues with it other than not being able to connect to the internet. I have followed all instructions and settings on connecting to the internet (GPRS) including Omega's settings and nothing seems to work. If someone has the internet on an unbranded/unlocked Black/Brown/Silver MPx220 working with ROM 1.47, I would greatly appreciate if you could share your settings as well as your methods. Internet via Pass Through does work fine. Thank you.

Regards,

Thanks very much for confirming that GPS works with this ROM!! I've now upgraded to 1.47 as well and am able to connect to the internet via GPRS. Here's what I did:

-- start
-- settings (more)
-- data connections
** highlight (don't select) "internet connection" box that will say "automatic"
-- Menu
-- Edit connections
-- GPRS connections
-- Menu
-- Add
++ <fill in the GPRS settings for your carrier>
-- Click "done" a few times until you get back to step **
This time select the "internet connection" box and choose the profile you setup in ++

Hope this helps. Cheers, Sabesh

eKit,

Thx for the heads-up. First part of my previous post was for you. I now have Mapopolis working well with ROM 1.47. Cheers,

Sabesh.

well i've noticed one SMS prob... you reply to a MSG and it just looks like it's accepting characters but nothing shows up. You gotta cancel the reply again.

Also, i can't seem to stay on AT&T while with 1.43 i could (as long as i didn't reboot my phone) AT&T here is set up properly in my opinion (caller id shows up as (xxx) xxx-xxxx while Cingular is 1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx which just annoys me cuz even tho it works that way too it just looks wierd and all that. So with 1.43 i could switch to AT&T and stay there all day, with this one it switches back to Cingular even if i set it to Manual in the NETWORKS settings.

I've noticed this, too. However, it's the only issue I've noticed with this ROM. I frequently had to reboot with 1.43. With 1.47, no reboots and no branding. Overall, it's great.
