Just got the phone on Sat. so maybe I haven't figured it all out yet.

1. I'm constantly glancing at my phone's clock as it sits on my desk and unless it's exactly the right angle, I can't read the screen. Background and text are too similar (both dark). Keeping the screen on constantly kills the battery so that option is out.

2. No alarm? Have to set a calendar event which is cumbersome.

If I'm missing something, please let me know. I'm coming from a 2 yr. old Samsung 3500 so this Sanyo is really cool.

There is an option to make the clock larger and it thus becomes a little more readable.

And I feel your pain about the lack of an alarm...My last two phones were Samsungs and they had really good alarms in them that I used frequently.

As for using an alarm with the 4900 I would reccomend using the schedule a call feature as it beeps loud and for a long time wheras the alarm with sound or voice are fairly short and probably wouldn't wake me up.

you can set an event to repeat daily, weekly, monthly or yearly in the sanyo calendar. if you set an event to repeat daily you have your alarm you wanted
