Motorola Q discussion

Does anyone have any more information on the Q. I have only seen what Moto has released.
It looks as if this isn't a flip phone. That is pretty disappointing. almost as much as it's lack of WiFi.

Haven't seen anything other than what MOTO and the rumors have put out...but yea, the wifi thing looks to be a non-feature, so it'll likely have to be added after the fact, assuming a driver will be available and you can just pop it in...but it'll have to be in the mini-sd slot which means no additional memory while on wifi...

Personally, I was kinda hot to see this device when the rumors started flying around about it...but as I've gotten more and more into my smartphone and read more of the new WM5 devices on the horizon, I'm leaning more toward trying to procure a HTC Wizard 100/110 when they are available, even if I have to import one...especially if they offer a non-camera device w/ the pop-out keyboard...

The moto-q looks cool, but w/o integrated wifi, it doesn't take a good bit away from its appeal...

Yea, that is true hyton not only that but I wanted a bigger keyboard. I really like the looks of the HTC Universal.

Posted by: hylton

I'd be jumping at a Universal if it were a bit smaller, but it's pretty much like carrying a PDA from the looks of it...which I keep resisting...I still want small gadgets...

Do you happen to know the truth about the HTC Wizard versions and whether or not the non-camera version will have a pull-out keyboard...some things I've read say it doesn't have a keyboard, other say the camera version is the one w/o the keyboard...this is in the 100/110 line.

Yea the HTC Univeral looks a tad big, I am stuck between it and the Wizard. I am not sure, it would make sense to keep the pull out keyboard no matter if it has a camera or not. I do think they will make models that have a pull out keyboard and one that doesn't with both models having a no camera varrient. Just my thoughts I haven't read or heard anything to confirm it.

Here is a website I was looking at, they all seem to have a sliding keyboard.

And here is another one about the 110/100 they both have a sliding keyboard, just one does't have a camera.

Wirelessly posted (MPx220: MOT-MPx220(2005.5.26)/SW3.460/WAP2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; Smartphone; 176x220))

When is this sucker supposed to come out?

Its a cool lookin device that would work for a person like my mom, who only wants something that handles voice fairly well, is large enough to keep track of, and is easy to enter contact info and various notes into.

Myself, I'm hoping for a WM5 Razr version of the mpx220.

Don't count on it yet my friend

I have been reading some time in december if you are talking about the HTC, the Moto Q will be out later, sometime around Q1 of 2006

Posted by: hylton

Yea, if Moto came out w/ a flip, WM5 RAZR, that would be sweet...I'd be all over that...I was close to just going w/ a RAZR when I bought my SMT5600 but I really wanted the Windows platform.

I'll have to see if I can find where I read about the Wizard, but something I read lead me to believe they would have 3 versions, 100, 110, and 200. Two of the 3 had a camera, one did not have a camera, but I thought I read that the camera free unit would also be minus the keyboard, but I may have misread...even if I didn't, it's all rumor at this point anyway...

Anyway...I'll see if I can find the rumored info tonight if I have time.

Too true. Motorola's bean counters need to realise that they could generate a good amount of revenue by releasing a Razr M$ smartphone flip.

I'd probably pick up a Q myself if it included wifi, and had a formfactor like that of the a630.

I've heard that T-Mobile US should get the HTC wizard by Q1 2006 and maybe the HTC universal (that VGA screen and landscape mode is the poop!)

If DT ever starts operating the individual T-Mobile brands as a single entity you would see much better handset selection at lower prices. If they offered free roaming on any T-Mobile international network, for 20 bucks per month, you'd see business customers in the US, UK and Germany join up ASAP.

Are you listening T-Mobile? Flex your muscle and streamline operations - it will all be good then!

Can anyone explain what's in this picture. The camera area looks to have 3 smaller circles. I can tell the upper right is the camera itself. I'm assuming one of the other circles is a Flash. But what is the 3 circle for???

Posted by: Troxelke

I think it is a mirror for taking pic's of yourself...

This phone here looks pretty cool too. Its the HP hw6715. It has Quad Band GSM with EDGE support. Bluetooth, Infrared, and built in WiFi. A MiniSD Slot and built in GPS that comes with TomTom 5. Also a touchscreen and a camera phone, the hw6700 is without a camera. I'm not sure of the size, I guess its 7.1cm wide, 2.1cm thick, and 11.8cm tall. I could be misreading the stats though.

Also with the release of Windows Mobile 5, does that mean that eventually we will no longer have Smartphone and PocketPC. Will WM5 replace these and Microsoft move to 1 format?

Posted by: hylton

Yup, the lower object is a mirror to snap yourself, the object on the left is a cheesy little LED flash like is on the MPx220.

Has anyone noticed all these posting about the HP 67xx series show the OS as Windows Mobile 2005 Second Edition...

Wow, HP either needs someone to review content, or they have a HUGE 'inroad' to the next MS version of pocket OS products...

hehe...

The first two with WM2003SE are already out but the last two newer models aren't, I am really hoping Cingular will pick up on the hw67xx models when they are released.

Can't wait to get a device with WM2k5, i have to see Microsoft true "push" solution, wich is supposed to be a http service pooling a server for updates. beside autd, WM2k5 with Edge and Wifi will be the killer device
