i did searches and couldn't find anything on this. was wondering if you could keep bluetooth ALWAYS on, so when i just turn on my bluetooth headset, it will automatically connect to the Razr. if anyone knows can they please let me know? thanks.

First off, did you pair the Phone and the Headset?

After you set the settings to POWER ON, whenever you turn off your headset it should disconnect. If you want to reconnect, turn on your headset wait for it to power cycle then press the talk button from the headset to wake up the connection between the headset and the phone. You should really read your headset instructions or go to the headset manufacturer website and read all about your gear.

my Hawaiian resident....did you read his question?

OP...I'm on the hunt currently, as I would like this as well...mind you I doubt there is a seem edit to enable full-time power on-as in the current menu's there ISN'T that feature. Your best bet is to short-cut it. I use menubutton+5 and I hit yes (soft button)...that's about as short as it gets to enabling BT after a dormancy period.

This method definetely works for V3 and V3i paired with Moto's H700 and HS850 as well as Jabra's BT800. Once you set the Power to "ON" it stays on. You can easliy check by following those steps again at any time - even if the BT logo is not illuminated, it is powered. The BT logo is ON when a BT HS is connected, or flashing when looking for a paired HS. With the above-mentioned headsets powering them to "ON" (open flip for Moto; power on for Jabra) will initiate connection.

Go into Device History in the Bluetooth menu and make sure it is set to automatically connect to the headset, instead of asking first.

blkballoon925 is right! (3,000 + posts - couldn't be wrong. ) This will solve your issue.

Well...this is partially true...few minutes when you power on BT the icon can remain hidden...but powers OFF if you don't connect anything-in the process to determine POWER OFF delay time.

I've been using BT on my listed phones for 3 months. When I read this I was really anxious to set it up. To my surprise...when checked...my hs850 was already set to auto..on my phones it's a default setting. Are you definitively certain-that with my listed Moto's BT will remain on indefinately? (I'm very skeptical about this-simply speaking from my exposure to these phones compared with my s710a...which definitively remains powered on ALL the time.)

Now...I'm really being open-minded here (because what do I have but to gain if I'm actually wrong-I would obviously be very happy)...but as far as my experience (practical) goes with my v635...it just doesn't happen. BT does not remain on permanently. It has a shut-down kill time.

If you want the headset to pair automatically use the setting I described above. If you want the Bluetooth radio in the Motorola phone to stay on all the time, use the instructions in post #2 of this thread. If the phone asks you if you want to turn Bluetooth on with a Yes/No dialog it will timeout and turn off later on. If you set Bluetooth to on in the settings it will stay on until you turn it off. You can trust me on that one, I've had Bluetooth on for the past 8 days and it hasn't turned off once.

hmm...well lemme tabulate what I do.

I've set up my hs850 with v635.

If I want to use the headset., I have to turn on BT. The device is on automatic.

a)I power on BT-on the phone
b)open up boom, it auto-connects
c)I make a call and finish.
d)I close boom, it disconnects.

The next time I want to make a call...I have to repeat steps a->d? What do you do that it stays on for 8 days so far? Do you not close the boom? But doesn't the headset go into standby-->sleep mode without useage? Doing it this way...does it keep BT powered on (phone side)?

what's BT radio?

geez...too muttled that reply of yours...hehe so many ififififififs. make it clearer...anyway...i'm wondering...is this somewhere in the MAIN phone settings area? Not in connection/bt menu's? Cuz I guess this is what's happening...it's timing off.

I think I know what you're asking...
It's in Connection
Connection > Bluetooth Link > Device History > select a Device (headset) if more than one available > Edit > Device Details > Access .... CHANGE from "Always Ask" to "Automatic".

I powered on bluetooth when i bough the phone and then paired my hs850 with it...haven't gone back into the bluetooth menu since then that was 7 months ago...and i use my headset everyday...when i open the boom, my phone detects my headset almost instantly

Ok. If you go into Menu > Settings > Connections > Bluetooth Link > Setup, there's an option called Power. If this is off, change it to On and it won't time out. The reason your phone is turning off Bluetooth after a while is because you are going into the Handsfree menu and when you select your headset (to pair it) it asks you something like this: "Bluetooth off. Temporarily power on?" and you can choose Yes or No. If you choose Yes, Bluetooth is powered on but it will turn off after you close the boom on the headset.

Posted by: bubble.tea

^^ I already said in previous post that that option is auto as default.

You know what guys....I've been watching the phone periodically for the past 2 hours...and power: is still "on"

I think...for whatever reason, I've been unnecessarily powering BT on...when it's already on.

hehehe., well I'm glad I figured this out.

What happens with the H500 though? without the fast-connect? Do you have to go into the menu still?

when you turn BT on, it stays on. i never turn mine off and never have a problem. maybe its your phone.
