Is it just my phone or is this a common problem? The noise i'm talking about is when I use the multi-direction pad to either scroll up or over to items, it doesn't always make that little "click" noise. All I hear is a tiny little noise that's barely audible coming from the speaker. When I turn it off then on again, I have no problem. Anybody experience this problem? I've already had to do a hard-reset do to a bad install of a program. I bought this phone brand spanking new from a seller on ebay. I know for a fact this phone was brane new; not only was it factory sealed but it's easy to tell wether it has been tampered with and it obviously wasn't. I'm getting frustrated with this phone because the problems are starting to show...one of the reasons why I sold my last Pocket PC; nothing but stupid annoying quirks. Sheesh, good thing I didn't sell my perfect from day one Nokia 6230. If anybody can shed some light on this issue, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I also experienced this "problem" on ocassion. After trying to figure it out for a while, I found the "problem" to be ME. I was holding the phone in my left hand and my index finger was covering the speaker (lol)!

Nope, my finger definetly isn't in the way. I put it in extra loud mode and it still does it. It will make the typical system sound when your navigate, but sometimes it just a real quiet click or no sound at all. God this is frustrating. Bought this phone on ebay and I know for a fact it was brand new, but i'm stuck with it unless I sell it (which I'll feel bad). Don't think Audiovox will warranty it because it was bought on ebay and the same goes with Cingular.

Hey Hylton, how did you go abouts doing that. For my normal profile, i've also turned off all noises, however I still would like the typical "phone" noises such as when I press a number on the keypad. Do I need one of those registry editing programs?

Yea, something like smartione will be the easiest to use, a google search will get you the download. Once you have it loaded and have the registry open on your desktop PC, go to . . .
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds
There are a TON of folders there, but you can browse down thru them to see what all is there...but the three that I completely turned off are...and don't forget the * before and after the word 'none'.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\MenuCommand]
"Sound" = "*none*"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\MenuPopup]
"Sound" = "*none*"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Keypress]
"Sound" = "*none*"
In all 3 cases, I created a backup entry for the original sound, in case I ever wanted it back...for example...I called it bkpSound.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\MenuPopup]
"bkpSound" = "MenuPop.wav"
Having bkpSound in there also makes it easy to find thru a registry search later if you need to get back to that entry for some reason.
The Keypress one above actually has an enable/disabled value, that was actually set from the Settings/Sounds part of the phone, but I set it to *none* as well, for consistency.
Happy editing, my phone is now very pleasantly quiet in meetings when I want to surf and tune people out

Forgot one other you might want to change...
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\SystemDefaul t]
"Sound" = "*none*"
This is the default sound that blips when you click something that's not possible...like a menu that can't go further, zooming on a map for instance...basically it's the default sound when no other sound is mapped to that function on the phone.
I turned mine off b/c PocketStreets beeps when you've zoomed out or in to the max level...it's annoying...
If I want you to speak, I'll ask you...you stupid phone !
CORRECTION...that doesn't fix the PS blipping sound, i forgot that didn't fix my problem there...still haven't found out how to turn that sound off, but i do have the default sound set to *none* as well.
