Any news on a Verizon 7750 successor in the near future?

RIM's ceo (Basille) mentioned "a flurry" of hardware releases for the fall. Not sure if this includes CDMA product or not. I do believe the Electron (EDGE) and a 7100 series iDen device are coming.

SOmeone on blackberryforums said a RIM rep showed him a 7130e CDMA. Has broadband and EVDO.... sounds like a Verizon release sometime this fall.

Nice! That would mean two new CDMA devices in a year. Fantastic!

Yep!

I returned my 7250 ONLY because whenever I received a call I would hit the ESC key pulling it out of the holster and ignore the call. The 7100s use the standard Send-End keys so I'm looking forward to re-owing a BB soon!

I initially had the same issue with the 7250. Actually, my problem was that I would accidentally "reject" the call. Now that I use a BT headset, its no longer an issue.

Getting back to the question regarding a successor to the 7750:

My impression is that RIM is moving away from bb's based on the larger screen. I personally prefer that design, but it doesn't look promising.

That may not be true. Check the post in this forum about the Electron.

The pictures I've seen of the Electron make it appear similar in size to the 7200 series...

Why would they do that? They are largely gaining popularity and I would think that their "6 million thumbs and growing" is something that they are planning on continuing. Just my two cents, but for all those people with BES and companies with hundreds of BB users (not to mention government) who would pick up the slack?

I believe the smaller form factor (a la 7200 series) is cheaper to produce. Not really sure...but they haven't come out with any new and improved 7700 series devices since the 7780 or 7750.

I suppose that's true. I don't like the ones with the larger screen myself. The 7200 series and 7100 series are much more pocket friendly (sorta) and ddo everything anyone needs. Still, I think some people would really like the ones with the larger screen just for things like excel files and whatnot... just for the work space.

Another thought occurred to me: It could be due to the keyboard. If you put a 7780 and a 7290 next to each other, they're almost the same size (the 7290 is thicker and slightly shorter). They get the extra space for the screen on 7780 by making the keyboard area slightly smaller, and adding a bit of length to the overall unit. Maybe they found that people prefer typing on the larger keyboard?!
