GTA Gas prices pool

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: BMWFilms

I considered putting this up in the Lounge but I figured Aurora or LGF might send it here. Well given prices are quickly approaching a $1.00/ regular in the GTA. Today I saw it for 96.8 during the day. SO let's have a HOFO gas prices pool trying to guess the exact day it'll hit a dollar. I'm circling my calendar for August 24. Just one date per post. Winner gets nothing but bragging rights on the doomsday for our wallets.

this friday night

it was 99.2 tonight

Posted by: BMWFilms

ewww I lost then. man it came much sooner than I thought it would. I was thinking more along the lines of 1-2 weeks. Now, I really wish I drove a Prius or Echo. Should the pool be changed to 2 bucks? lol that seems conceiveable now.

Highest I saw this mornign was 99.2. I think they want to avoid 100 cause it's has a psychological impact.

i was reffering to the 3000 L...but then again 3000L / 58 L gas tank = approx 51 - 52 fill ups...so basically once a week fillup (from empty if not near emptiness) which is actually not that bad

Some Toronto stations are just $0.001 away from $1.00 this morning, $0.999

Posted by: huyngoc

In GVA this morning $1.104/L

I watched news last nite & they said the gas prices can go up to $1.20 cad/L in nxt couple weeks. I hope it wont go up that high......

i know wwhat you mean...im hoping that soon with the 05 clearance i can trade in my rav4 for an accord...got a sweet price as well

Posted by: BMWFilms

I want the Accord Hybrid. lol performance with the fuel economy of a Civic. anyone ever test driven it before? I'd be curious to know how it feels and if there's any difference between a normal Accord.

yeah the Accord Hybrid is pretty sweet...but it wont pay itself off for a while...it has the same fuel efficency as the Honda Civic Si..

Posted by: BMWFilms

that's a jiff. I was thinking fuel efficiency more along the lines of the LX lol. But I guess no hybrid cars really pay themselves off right? they all depreciate a lot after 5 years I remember reading from the newspaper. Probably best to go along with an Echo hatchback....lol

LOL i have to admit that is a sweet car..(the echo hatchback)...but if it wasnt for the fact that it has no trunk (in essence) i would get it LOL.

I dunno about paying themselves off, but the fact that the cars (hybrids) are quite a bit more expensive that the high end model let alone the base, it doesnt make sense to get one. Plus, I mean its not a conventional engine right...so you have to take it to a certified hybrid garage (toyota has those)...and of course yeah it would not be fun at all...although sweet...no fun

Civic Si: 7.9/5.9 E4E
Accord hybrid: same E5E
Accord LX: 9.9 or 10 / 6.4/.5 E5E

Posted by: BMWFilms

Yeah you're right man...the Echo hatchback isn't practical if you have a family or carry a lot of stuff around. I think the 4 door Accord 4 cylinder is fuel efficient enough without going into no space( like the Echo) or Hybrid expenses. My dreams of driving a turbocharged car has been torpedoed by the steady increase in gas prices

I think you're too big for an Echo Hybrids, meh...get a nice domestic Buick Allure GSX, sorry i'm pro domestic now till the POS breaks down

reason: 1 import buys me 2 POS domestics

I wonder if gas prices will ever come down again...only last summer 6X.X was possible...

I highly doubt it, even back in the days of gas shortages due to the war...prices kept going up and never looked back...increases may slow down but if anything?

Posted by: BMWFilms

I say 2 bucks a litre is more likely than 60 something in the forseeable future...UNLESS every Canadian province discovers oil sands then we'd have low prices

Posted by: b_rad94

Yeah right... tons and tons of oil and alberta and our gas prices arent going down anytime soon... UP UP UP

Posted by: BMWFilms

yeah that is BS that the oil sands province is paying into the 1.00 range too. I bet it's cuz we're exporting our oil to those neighbours in the South instead of using it domestically and saving our consumers money.

Technically crude oil is measured in barrels, and your hyperbole of how much crude oil in the Athabasca tar sands doesn't do justice!

1.7 trillion barrels of oil

1 barrel = 158.987Litres

~270 trillion litres of oil!

so we've got trillions of barrels of oil?? lol or are you shietting me

$102.1 tonight at Sunoco, Yonge/7. It finally broke the $1.00 barrier.

Some Esso stations around the area didn't have enough digits on their signs to show it so they were just blank.

Posted by: BeaverLiquor

does that mean i win?

Posted by: BMWFilms

lol I guess so...DOOMSDAY is here for all wallets...dangit

Posted by: rip

$101/2.xcdn/L everywhere this morning around 7ish am when i was out.

lol what a price different and only a block away.

Posted by: tuffdog

ha... In Vancouver it's hovering at 110.4 today with the highest I saw at 113.0. We had the prices slip to 99.9 the other night for a cople hours and the line ups were LONG!

Posted by: BMWFilms

I so wanna edit this pool to say estimate the date for 2.00/ litre of regular lol. I think Vancouver's in the lead...$113.0 is expensive enough. The thing is if it ever got to 2.00...I think I'll probably just bus it because my car would take like 80 bucks a taNK? ewww I don't even want to think of that.

Posted by: huyngoc

This morning I saw $1.114 cad, now it drop down to 1.05 that the lowest I saw so far today in my area. Yesterday the lowest they drop to 98.5. Oh man, this could be more serious problem now.

Posted by: Paolo

I start my car, there goes $5 gas

Posted by: BMWFilms

gas seems to have stablized this weekend. not nearly as extortive as during the week.

Posted by: theocrx

man here in montreal the gas is 1.15$/ltr... i remember that when i got my first car gas was about 0.49$/ltr... good ol'days!!!

Posted by: BMWFilms

I think my first tank of gas was bought at like .59 cents/litre? lol that was back in 2001.

Posted by: theocrx

it's crazy how the price went up fast!! my first tank at 0.49$/ltr i think it was in 1998...
