background picture looks lousy...

I have a 101x80 gif (72dpi) image that looks great in Photoshop on my PC, but gets really badly dithered when I transfer it to my T68m. Are there any particular "settings" to use for this?

I didn't find any useful information when I did a search.

Thanks!

Well, I know that the screen only supports 256 colors so if you don't optimize the picture before you send it. Even when I do optimize it though it doesn't look that great all the time.....

Thanks for the suggestion. I took a look, and my gif has 254 colors. I also tried saving it as a "reduced color" gif (gif87 instead of gif89 format -- it's an option in the "xv" program for XWindows), but that didn't help, either.

Maybe this is just one of those images that's destined to look bad.

Thanks, though!

Funny thing...after I had the phone upgraded to T68i R5D, the picture looks a lot better.

I've found that starting with a pic that has a lot of colors makes it look really pixelly (is that a word?). By reducing it down to <256 colors, that's what causes the bad display

Try using a different pic that has less colors in it and/or crop differently and see if that helps
