Hey all. I guess I'm just another newsgroup lurker looking for some guidance and justification. I've been obsessing this past week over the SE s710a after reading its reviews and your posts, and it cost $200 after rebates.

Before I buy, should I reconsider among the other phones that cost $200 after rebates? I find the RAZRs a bit overrated compared to the s710a, but the smartphones I'm still unsure about.

I already have a great Palm pilot that plays great mp3s and movies, so that's not really the issue. Is there a phone with better reception, gaming capability, and/or a better camera? Oh, and it must have mp3 ringtone capabilities. Other than that, I'm not picky. I'm not willing to spend more than $200 in the very end (although I'm willing to pay more initially).

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. I plan on buying my phone tomorrow or Monday at a Cingular store (obivously, any phone suggestions has to meet store prices, not what you find at online sites). Thanks in advance!

IMO, the s710a has the best camera in Cingular's whole lineup. i agree the V3 is overrated...it doesnt do anything that my V600 cant do...but you have to admit the form factor is awesome. i wouldnt mind having one, but i would buy the s710a over the RAZR.

i hear the 6620 is a great phone too, but it's kind of old and funky lookling (bulgy middle section) and its replacement (6682) still hasnt surfaced yet, but it should be "soon". :rolleyes2

dont know much about the SMT5600 smartphone, but the people who have one seem to like it.

The 6620 is a good phone for watching movies mp3 and the web plus edge the 5600 is also nice but no edge and the dust under the screen is annoying but other than that its nice

This is especially true if you create yourself a streaming media server for the 6230. Its excellent RF really helps keep the bitrate high compared to other phones. Personally, I find 7 minute looney toons episodes to be perfect.

It's not the best phone in the world at playing mp3s and 3gp video, but it works well enough, especially for its size.

What about the Audiovox SMT 5600? Seems to have it all in a relatively small and thin form factor.

I've never used the SMT 5600, but from what I've read, the reception below average and the volume isn't quite loud enough...
