MMC cards are SLOW

I had a Sony Clie UX50 and using a 1 GB MS PRO Duo with an adapter is about 5 to 10 times faster than MMC cards. It took my Clie an hour and a half to two hours to transfer 1 GB of data while it is taking about 3-4 hours to transfer 500 MB of data.
