Treo650 as a good general phone/pda?

i leave to Army Basic in bout 2-3 days. after, i go to ft gordon, ga for 23 weeks for advanced training for information systems, 25B. ive been informed that Ft Gordon apparently now allows you to have a cell phone and small handheld electronics from the day you get there (initially for use only on the weekend and i slowly gain privelidges).

anyway, i was lookin for a new phone with the internet and a camera to get and the Treo 650 looks like theres nothing missing at all. It has the internet, an mp3 player, a camera, world phone (great since i may end up traveling the world), great screen, and a keyboard (which will make it easy for writing emails/instant messages to friends).

how do you all feel about the Treo650 when it comes to those things? My friend has a sidekick and he rarely sits at his computer anymore (and he is almost ALWAYS at it when not out) cuz his Sidekick can go on aim, take pics, and do everything he wants from his computer. Is the Treo650 as good as, if not better, of a replacement that the Sidekick is? Id get a sidekick, but i have cingular and its on the plan of my parents and they dont wanna switch.

I just recently purchased a 650, and so far I cant put this **** thing down, I am turning into a freak about it lol.

I dont know much about the sidekick, but I understand its not really a PDA, just a phone with email and IM's and such. The treo is more like a full blown handheld PC in a sense, since you can add memory and install gobs of apps on the handheld, play games, watch movies, listen to MP3's, brows the net a almost DSL like speed with cingulars EDGE in full blown HTML bowser, soon there will be MobiTV for the 650 so you can then watch TV lol. Send/Recieve email, read/edit MS Office documents, excel, word/pdf/powerpoint, and then of course the native features like memo's, contacts, appointments etc.

The list goes on and on and on. Though installing to much cause instability, but that goes for any device even a PC.

If the cost of the device is ok with you, I think the Treo kick much @ss

Cheers!

The Treo is a million times better than the Sidekick in everything. Faster data, touchscreen, expanable memory, bluetooth. That should keep you entertained for awhile. I just got mine and I love it. Suprising to me is that battery is pretty good. I get about 3-4 days to a charge and my P900 only gets about 2. A huge plus in my book since I am out for most of the day and only have time to charge at night.

Im looking in to getting palmONE's Tungsten E2 or Zire 31. The Tungsten E2 has Bluetooth, and the Zire 31 doesnt have BT, but has IR. I'm also looking into getting the Nokia 8801. Would it be possible for me to transfer, say, pictures and/or video from the 8801 to either of these PDAs?

Its might be possible on the Palm end. You may need to look into the 8801.
