AIM/Data usage question...

Hey all, I'm a newbie at most things related to cell phones, so forgive me if this is a stupid question. I searched the forums but didn't really get the answer I needed. The question is, when using AIM on my phone (a RAZR if that matters), how much data will I be using? Is it only used when I actually IM somebody, or will it be logging KB as long as it is "turned on"? I have the 1 MB per month limit, so certainly don't want to spend extended periods using it if it's racking up the KBs.

Thanks in advance for any answers...

if you are using the aim java program that came with your phone, then you are using sms and not data.

well you are using data, but cingular bills it as sms

Thanks, ASimpleFarmer. I think I understand that actually sending a message is counted on my bill as SMS, but what I am confused about is actually being "online" on AIM. If I log onto AIM on my phone, and leave it on for a couple of hours, will this use an outrageous amount of data? I assume it's GOT to use data, but I realize a lot of people stay "mobile" constantly and assume they can't all have unlimited data on their phones.

Hope I am making sense with my questions here...

i cant confirm that they will charge you data for staying on too long, but i believe its just to update your buddy list. I would call CS a couple of times to get them to confirm it.
