I'm looking to unlock my razr sine i'm traveling very soon and wondering which method of unlocking is best.

I called t-mob and they told me after 90 days they will do it. I when walked to 2 different t-mob indirect dealers and they gave me 2 methods and 2 different prices on unlocking my phone. One wanted $35 and say they will unlock it using MEI (remote unlock) the other asked for $20 which I guess was going to use the smart unlock.

Anyway which method should I consider going with. The expensive dealer told me the the smart unlock tends to mess up you software. Is this true? Do you have any abnormal experience with unlocking your razr.

Always try to Unlock Your phones remotely because if you unlock them through smart kit it will mess up your software.

go with bongo wireless. youll need the usb data cable though but if you have a digital camera etc, the cable may work with the phone. it's $25 through bongowireless (see kevin top forum). you do it with your computer and internet. no ****up software at all

do i sense sarcasm? or are you referring to something like ota unlocking? hard to tell.

That might be the answer to my razr un-lock question that I've never posted yet :-)

Download the latest unloked flash file and flash your phone and you are all set!

You may need to have a USB cable (some times it comes with the Digital Camera ) and PST Drivers to connect to the phone and software called "Motorola PST MultiFlashFlex"

Hey Thx "free2indians" for the flex suggestion but it's my understanding that NO flash or flex will Un-Lock a V3, it has to be done remotely w/cable or send it to someone to unlock using the IMEI number.

An I right on that....?

You are correct! No Flashing or Flexing will unlock a phone but Flashing can lock an unlocked phone.

Then I better be carefull what I do till I get my Cingular branded V3 un-locked and then continue to watch...Huh!!

I've started by using motokit to backup everything. Does that sound like a fair start..??

So I'm clear with this:

Can you flash or mod a phone if it's still locked?
If I'm correct you can make seem edits to a locked phone though. Is that right?

Yes you can flash and mod a locked phone to your hearts content.

I don't think i'll be doing very much until I get mine un-locked..... and that's another issue !!!
There seem to be (2) schools of thought, either go with remote un-locking OR send it to someone to use the smart box to un-lock it.

Confused as to what to do about un-locking...."Help"!!!

I have never used remote unlocking but try the Marketplace. GSMLiberty and Bongo Wireless have good reputations. Also have a look here:

i thought u can call tmobile and tell them u want to unlock the phone and they'll give u the code? is that true?
