Hey guys!

Was playing with my BT today and was wondering if the BT passkey can be changed? or is it just defaulted as 1234 and can never be changed?

When a device tries to pair with the Treo you pick the passkey. You enter what you want it to be for that pairing and then the device that initiated the pair has to have the matching code entered.

This is not true. You need to use the manufacturers passkey. Motorolla happens to be 0000 . I found out the hard way because I was entering in my own and it wouldnt work. Then I read the manual...

It depends on what you're connecting to. Most BT headsets have a passkey of 0000. When you enter 0000 on your Treo, you're entering the passkey of the headset, not of the Treo. If you want to pair to another cell phone, or a computer, or something like that, there has to be a person on the other end. When you try to pair to them, they pick a passkey which you need to enter. Conversely, if someone with another cell phone or computer wants to connect to your Treo, you get to pick any four digit passkey you want and they need to enter it.

The original poster asked about changing the Treo's passkey from 1234 to something else. The Treo has no default passkey, it's whatever you set it to for that particular pairing session. That's different than the passkey you enter to, say, pair to a Motorola headset.

yup thats right! its defaulted to 1234, just wanted to know if you can change it, so that other ppl can't try to pair with your phone.. which can get annoying.

Thanks for the help anywayz guys!
