I tried out Smartmovie but noticed that the quality is really very blocky. I dont know if it is the converter or the player that does this. I know that I have a ton of free memory - way more than smartmovie is using, so I'd like to find a video player that supports avi, mpeg etc and at a higher quality. Anyone know of any apps for UIQ that do this? I don't mind if it's an app I have to pay for. I just have a ton of clips that I'd like to put on my phone but I'd like them to actually be watchable!

Hello There,
The quality depends on the source file, as well as the encoding. If you have a decent source file, I would recommend converting it using the following settings.
Choose the 3ivx codec, go to the options and use consistent quality then select about 80%, then for the audio choose select 22050hz and 32kb force mono, this will give about max of 200mb for a 90 minute film and will be very watchable.
If your source file needs any resizing or cropping before you convert through smartmovie, then download a program called Virtual Dub (Freeware) and convert it through that first.
If you don't have the codecs then download the K-Lite Codec Pack.
(Virtual Dub and K-Lite can be downloaded from my FireEgg site)
